Zaterdag 18 februari - Het décor van een radioshow die wereldwijd door ongeveer 35 miljoen mensen beluisterd wordt en de gastheer van de avond een van de grootste DJ’s ter wereld is. Als dat niet genoeg is om ons naar de Jaarbeurs te trekken zijn er genoeg stages met even indrukwekkende namen om de line-up te completeren.
Aangekomen op de parkeerplaats van de Jaarbeurs verbaasde ik me weer over de hoeveelheid mensen van buiten Nederland. De touringcars vanuit Frankrijk, Polen en Duitsland stroomden leeg met mensen die gezien de stemming al een aardige pre-party in de bus hadden gehad. Op de parkeerplaats ontstonden bij wat auto’s met open deuren wat plaatselijke feestjes, alles onder het genot van de eerste trance-tunes van de avond. Mooi om te zien wat de trancemuziek weer te weeg weet te brengen en mensen vanuit heel Europa doet komen om te genieten van een avond muziek.

De eerste namen van de line-up van A State of Trance op 18 februari 2017 in de Jaarbeurs in Utrecht zijn bekend. De vijfmaal nr #1 DJ van de wereld Armin van Buuren zal het podium delen met onder meer Berg, Bryan Kearney en Denis Kenzo. Voor Berg en Denis Kenzo is het hun debuut bij A State of Trance. Daarnaast zal Armin groots uitpakken met een speciale vinyl set. Komende weken worden er meer namen bekend gemaakt.

Mee eens inderrdaad. Genix natuurlijk. Super8 & Tab is ook Anjuna style. En Yoel Lewis heeft heel veel weg van Ilan Bluestone.
S8&T zijn armada tegenwoordig dus ik verwacht wel wat veranderingen qua set-sound bij de heren. Bij Yoel Lewis moet ik niet meteen aan Ilan Bluestone denken, maar dat is persoonlijk. Ging me ook meer om Anjuna label artiesten
goede namen.....toch weer dat net niet gevoel......komt door: geen paul van dijk, geen solarstone, geen gaia....maar ach, we zijn verwend!! Opvallend dat Cosmic Gate er niet tussen staat deze keer.....hun setje van ade dit jaar is toch wel weer erg fijn! Nee, ben helaas niet zo onder de indruk van deze namen.....
Solarstone is er wel hoor. Pure NRG draait namelijk.

Voor mij trouwens wel een stuk betere namen dan vorig jaar. Ik begin serieus te twijfelen om te gaan. Ga sowieso na het geweldige succes van Lumo beach weer die kant op, maar met Aly & Fila, Ben Nickey, JOC, RAM, Pure NRG, Dan Stone, Jorn wordt ik echt blij.
Ik ben best tevreden met deze line up, psytrance vind ik niet zo veel aan, maar met deze namen zie je mij heel blij rondstuiteren in de overige 3 zalen! Ik ben erg blij dat Aly & Fila er weer zijn! Ik had het PvD ook gegund, maar misschien is het verstandig om een jaartje over te slaan na het fiasco bij de vorige editie. Een artiest zoals Driftmoon of Darren Porter had er van mij nog bij gemogen, maar desalniettemin verheug me er nu al weer op

Gisteren maakte ook Mark Sherry bekend op ASOT te staan, hij meldde mij op Twitter dat er nog wat namen bij gaan komen.
Dus wie weet maken ze Paul van Dyk later nog wel bekend.
Ik snap alleen het hele gezeur niet van mensen die de line-up minder vinden.
Er staan genoeg doorgewinterde namen tussen, maar ook nieuwe jongens.
In mijn ogen kan een organistatie als ASOT het toch nooit goed doen wat de line-up betreft.
Wat ik alleen wel lachwekkend begin te vinden is het EDM niveau dat hier gehaald wordt.
Psy trance, Uplifting, Trouse, Trance.... Alles moet opeens een labeltje hebben....
Ik kijk er in ieder geval naar uit, want de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding vind ik bij ASOT altijd prima, altijd goed georganiseerd dus kom maar op!

Het is toch nooit goed. Als ik kijk hoe druk het vorig jaar bij Cosmic Gate was in vergelijking met de 138/psy is ook lang niet iedereen het met deze klaagzang eens.
De allergrootste menigte komt toch voor AvB, A&F, JoC, RAM, Ørjen en zoiets.
Overigens moet Radion6 wel even expliciet vernoemd worden. Die heeft wat dikke tracks gemaakt dit jaar!

Valt klein beetje tegen. Had nog op wat grote knallers gehoopt a la Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery of Gia. Maar ach met: Chris Schweizer, Marlo, Genix, Pure NRG, Omnia, Radion 6, Super8 & Tab valt er nog meer dan genoeg te beleven.
Vandaag maar eens kijken wat Luminosity in Phase 2 in petto heeft. Heb zo'n gevoel dat zij niet teleurstellen........

Apart dat jij persoonlijk een tweet er over krijgt dat er meer komt en dat Armin de hele wereld verkondigd dat dit de volledige line-up is.
Tja, ik snapte het ook niet toen Mark het zelf bekend maakte dat hij ook aanwezig zal zijn op ASOT.
Toen ik hem een screenshot van het mailtje stuurde meldde hij dat er nog meer namen bij komen......

Woeha BR van mij mag het een psy stage en dan ook nog WAO138 dan kan het zomaar zijn dat ik wel een kaartje koop.

Ik heb net als vorig jaar een "net niet gevoel" bij deze line-up. Misschien zijn we de jaren ervoor te veel verwend geweest? Mits een goede timetable/zaalindeling is er wel nog meer dan genoeg lekkers. En vorig jaar waren mijn mindere verwachtingen onterecht ondanks het wegvallen van de vinyl-set. De psy-hype gaat wel volledig aan mij voorbij, hopelijk komen zij in een apart zaaltje.
Vind het wel merkwaardig dat ze de definitieve line-up bekend maken, Mark Sherry er via "de achterdeur" bij komt en Mark Sherry vervolgens verkondigd (en niet de grootmeester van asot Armin zelf) dat er nog meer bij komt.
Maar als dat zo is ben ik wel heel erg benieuwd wie er nog bij komen.
Ja vond ik zelf ook, maar hij plaatste het echt op zijn twitter en toen ik hem er op aansprak kreeg ik het volgende:

Denk je niet dat gezien de grote belangstelling voor psy-trance de laatste tijd dit subgenre gewoon een grote(re) stage verdient dan een apart zaaltje?
Vorig jaar was er, na het vervelende ongeluk met Van Dyk, een zaal waar de sfeer nog opperbest was, namelijk in de zaak waar toen Vini Vici aan het afsluiten was....

Voor de bepaalde liefhebbers denk ik een 'betere' line-up dan vorig jaar, maar mis toch wel aantal grote mainstage name aka echte publiektrekkers om een jaarbeurs vol te krijgen. Een ASOT verkoopt al nooit uit (al roepen ze dat wel paar dagen van te voren, gezien de vulling van de zalen natuurlijk verre van).
ABGT200 was keihard genieten, tussen al dat psy/138/bigroom geweld mis ik toch wel een Above & Beyond of Andrew Bayer. Paul van Dyk had natuurlijk wel 'gemoeten'. Denk dat veel mensen die er vorig jaar waren er nu ook weer zullen zijn, zou de sfeer goed doen daar aandacht aan te besteden.
