Sandy Warez interview:
Ht.be: Can you introduce yourself very short? For the people who don’t know you yet (if there still are any).
SW: Ok, i’m Sandy Warez. I’ll be 31 years old on the 3rd februari 2007.
I live in Brussels / Anderlecht. I’m a dj / producer since 1995 and my music style is techno / industrial / hardcore.
Ht.be: On 3 februari, it’s time again for your birthday party... can you tell us what the people can expect from that night?
SW: Me and Manone decided to create a new organisation for underground techno / industrial / hardcore events. Our first event will be my birthday on 3 februari off course.
Our main goal is to discover new & original artists from every underground music style on every edition. At the edition in februari, we’ll have 22 artists from a wide range of styles.
This way, everyone who likes underground music will be able to go to quality party’s.
Ht.be: Are there certain things that you’ve learned the past year and that you will try to improve this year?
SW: People learn new things every year. In 2006, i’ve especially tried to search and create my own style of music. I wanted to create a very particular style... a style with lot’s of core and speed. Both as a dj and as a producer.
And i think the crowd also reacted very positive at this evolution.
Ht.be: How do you see the future for yourself as as dj & producer?
SW: I will continue to evolve in the core-style and i will also try to create a new style which should be a mix between hardtechno and industrial hardcore. I will try to realise this both as a dj and in my productions.
Ht.be: What’s your ultimate dream as a dj and producer?
SW: Making the complete soundtrack for a big movie... a real blockbuster. And i would like to work on this project with the people i respect the most: Dj Promo aka Rude Awakening and the Chemical Brothers. But this remains and will remain a dream i think hehe.
Ht.be: What’s your opinion on our initiative to gather the entire belgian hardtechno-scène on hardtechno.be?
SW: For me there’s only 1 active board in whole Belgium (including all music styles) and it’s hardtechno.be. All the other sites are practically as good as dead.
Also hardtechno.be is a board where people talk about all hardcore, hardtechno and industrial party’s... and those are simply all the styles i love. Therefore it’s quite obvious that hardtechno.be is my number 1 board.
