DJ Mike Van Loon

Dutch DJ Mike van Loon initially made contact with Hed Kandi’s label leader Mark Doyle in 2000 whilst he ran Future Unknown DJ booking agency. After following the growing fortunes of the UK compilation label, Mike decided to book Hed Kandi LIVE for a party at De Beurs Van Berlage in Amsterdam. Accidentally Mark Doyle heard him DJ-ing at the cities Supperclub after his set and greatly impressed Doyle booked Mike for Kandi’s forthcoming gig in Germany. Mike still looks back at this first gig fondly as his best ever DJ experience and incidentally the first record Doyle heard Mike playing was immediately licensed for HK’s Disco Kandi 4 compilation (Lego: When I'm with you (Trompet Mix)).

After teaming up with Hed Kandi, Mike has DJ-ed around the globe on behalf of the label including Pacha London, Sydney Arthouse, The Coastbar Auckland, MK 2 Dusseldorf, Centro in Singapore, Le Passage in Chicago, Le Chateaux in New York, Vega in trendy Copenhagen, the super stylish ShoreClub on Miami Beach, Singapore’s Essential New Years Eve party in front of an 10.000 Audience, Eden, El Divino and the Base Bar in Ibiza and this NYE he will be seen together with DJ Stonebridge in Cape Town during Hed Kandi's South African NYE event.

Now after over 2 years touring with Hed Kandi Mike van Loon finally finds himself in the position he always wanted to be; not as a well-known superstar DJ, but just to play his music to other people and have fun. And with current residencies with Amsterdam Mazzo and alongside Hed Kandi’s monthly parties at Pacha, London, CDLC Barcelona and Stereo Newcastle, Mike has plenty of opportunities to do both.

With a musical style spanning from funky-uplifting US garage to west coast deep house through to tribal and progressive underground sounds, Mike maintains a DJ style that won’t be pigeonholed but always fits perfectly with Hed Kandi diverse musical stamp of quality.

Mike also presents the weekly Hed Kandi radio show on the only 100% Dance station in The Netherlands: ID&T radio (Sunday 8-10pm). Furthermore Mike has just finished working at Zomba Distribution where he was responsible for Hed Kandi CD sales in The Netherlands.
