Open Road is getting into the horror genre, hardcore. With Silent Hill: Revelation primed for theaters next weekend, they’ve now got their next sequel on their hands.

The company behind The Grey has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Machete Kills, The Robert Rodriguez-directed sequel that brings back Danny Trejo as the blade-savvy former Mexican Federale, reports Deadline. Check out the first official image inside!

Michelle Rodriguez is back, and Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson also star. Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg sealed the deal. Kyle Ward wrote the script based on a story by Marcel Rodriguez and Rodríguez.

“This is the second film in what is meant to be a trilogy. Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.”

The film is expected to have a wide release in 2013.

Ik ook, vond deel 1 echt über, vooral dat einde
Helemaal in begin dacht ik pfffffff weer de zoveelste actie film
De film was al enige tijd uit, en op een keer verveelde ik me, en dacht "ale dan, toch maar eens pruimen" ... en uiteindelijk was ik serieus verrast door die film.

Ghostbusters 3 (20XX) (2013 ???)

Het blijft een ja nee ja nee ja nee spelletjes over Ghostbusters 3. Als ik het goed begrijp, word deel 3 gewoon een 'nieuwe' film. GEEN re-make van deel 1 of 2. Laatse tijd volg ik bijna elk artikel over deze film. Nog steeds is het niet echt officieel maar het word wel warmer en warmer voor een "groen licht"

In ieder geval, ik wil wel een deel 3. Ben eens benieuwd of ze er in slagen om het succes van deel 1 en 2 te evenaren Ik ben wel blij dat het geen re-make word. En er is ook wel enige tijd tussen. Deel 1 was van 1984 en deel 2 van 1989. Als er ééntje zou komen in 2013 dan zit er toch dikke 24 jaar tussen.

With Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 4 now in theaters, Bloody Disgusting reader “FoundTootage” sent us in a leaked clip from the release that teases the fifth film in the franchise!

[Box Office] ‘Paranormal Activity 4' Opens 43% Lower Than ‘Part 3, ‘Paranormal Activity 5' Officially Announced

Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 4 hit theaters on Friday. And it pulled in a little north of $30M domestic (and around $26.5M foreign for a worldwide total of around $57M). All in all this is a huge success for a film that only cost $5M to produce. They’re already in the black. It’s just not as huge of a success as they’re used to. That’s down $22M in the opening frame from PA3 and down $10M or so from PA2, which makes it the weakest performer in the series since PA1 opened in limited theaters in 2009.

Overall the film has a pretty weak Cinemascore, polled audiences gave it a “C” which means a lot of them will be telling their friends not to go (I guess they agreed with Brad). It could end up as the lowest (or 2nd lowest) grossing entry. But let’s not break out the violins just yet. This series is still insanely profitable – and Paramount just officially announced Paranormal Activity 5 for October 2013.

My hope? Either drop the mythology completely or answer some questions about it. The whole “witches” angle isn’t very scary to me. Seeing Katie running around breaking people’s necks isn’t very scary to me either. So either get interesting with some answers or get scary again with ghosts f*cking with people in new ways. Maybe stop tossing people around and figure something else out? I really liked PA3 because it had some legit scary moments – and I’d like a return to pushing things forward in the medium rather than adding a bunch of expositional mumbo jumbo. Maybe this series is like Star Trek and every other one will be good.
