Also, if it was more important that Iraq was harboring terrorists than that Saddam was harboring them, then it really wasn't a war against Saddam, was it?
<<And you won't find another country where all of the factors present in Iraq exist there.>>
Try Indonesia. You'll be surprised. (The only major diff is that the present Indonesian administration wasn't put into power cuz some faraway country needed an ally against Iran)
PS. here's some random personal predictions....
1. keep an eye on Pakistan. It might very well develop into a new Iraq (after all, they're not really a democracy, stole their nucleair knowledge, have WMDs, harbor terrorists and are now a branded a "key ally")
2. keep an eye on Colin Powell. He might very well be the next "whistle blower"

<<He had public support.>>
After convincing some of the "public support" that Saddam had WMDs and ties with al-Qaida, yes. You might remember that a lot of people didn't support the war because they didn't believe Saddam was a threat to the US or was behind 9/11. (Oh, I forgot, they were anti-American traitors. All 30 million of them.)
<<If Bush is wrong for taking Saddam out, then so was the majority of the American public.>>
If Bush can't be blamed for acting on "incorrect intelligence" (why wasn't anybody fired for that btw?) then you also can't blame the public for "acting on Bush's intelligence" (hmmmz... there's a pun here, but I'll leave it). They weren't wrong, just misled about certain key issues. The only difference was, they didn't get to see the whole picture with all the contradicting intelligence, while Bush did.
Of course you can't turn back time, but do you really believe public support would have been the same if the Bush administration hadn't tried to tie Saddam to 9/11 (very effectively, since ± 20% of the population STILL believes that Saddam somehow was behind 9/11) and hadn't mentioned WMD's?
Saddam was no threat except to his own people. If there would have been a good scenario to take him out, I would have been all for it. But I believe this war will prove to be a very tragic mistake, and one that millions more will pay for with their lives.
