Daniel Goldstein, known professionally as Lane 8, is an American DJ and electronic music producer celebrated for his emotive, melodic house soundscapes and immersive live performances. Born in San Francisco, California, Goldstein's musical journey began in his youth, playing in a garage band named Lane 8—a nod to his position in swim meets, where the slowest swimmers were placed in the outermost lane. This early experience laid the foundation for his future in music.

During his college years at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Goldstein's musical interests evolved from hip-hop beats to dance music, influenced by artists like Pete Rock and DJ Premier. He began producing and sharing his tracks online, leading to his signing with the British label Anjunadeep in 2013. His debut album, Rise, released in 2015, featured collaborations with artists such as Solomon Grey, Patrick Baker, and Matthew Dear, establishing his reputation in the electronic music scene.

In 2016, Goldstein launched his own label and event series, This Never Happened, promoting a unique live experience by encouraging audiences to disconnect from digital devices and be fully present. This initiative reflects his commitment to creating authentic, shared musical moments.

Lane 8's subsequent albums, including Little by Little (2018), Brightest Lights (2020), Reviver (2022), and Childish (2024), showcase his evolving sound and collaborations with artists like POLIÇA, Arctic Lake, and Kasablanca. His music is characterized by its emotional depth and melodic complexity, resonating with audiences worldwide.
