After intentionally spending years on the fringes of experimental dance music, 2015 saw Tobias Lee establishing himself as an emergent voice in dance music's larger conversation. The "Snipestreet EP" (Halcyon Veil) first showed his mastery over original productions, instead of his unruly approach to bootlegs and edits. Following "Snipestreet" Why Be teamed up with Elysia Crampton, Chino Amobi, Lexxi & Rabit on the album "Demon City" (Break World Records). He then soundtracked Stephanie Comilang's sci-fi docu "Lumapit Sa Akin, Paraiso" (NON), about Filipina migrant workers in Hong Kong. Lee's sound is defined by its visceral (often uncategorizable) nature. He's as likely to draw on ballroom and rap as instrumental grime, but it's Lee's radically singular approach to putting it all together that makes him so exciting. Even if the ingredients are familiar, the end product never is. His cathartic and uncompromising style of club music stands completely on its own.

Missdevana's name has been circulating for a while now. She is a fascinating producer and DJ from Eindhoven whose percussion-heavy sound blurs the lines between UK funky, dancehall, and raw bubbling. Although Missdevana represents a new face in a now burgeoning scene, her recent ‘Brass’ EP on Nervous Horizon is a serious statement to challenge existing club structures.
