MARCEL DETTMANN (Ostgut Ton, MDR. Berlin)
DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is recognised as being one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. Widely associated with iconic trademarks including Berlin, Berghain and Hard Wax, Dettmann stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of electronic music, and, nevertheless, integrating art deeply into the music scene. As a passionate DJ and one of the faces of Berghain, Dettmann seeks to inspire his listeners with sounds both reduced and rough, balanced by emotional and surprising moments throughout his sets. Between pure techno, banging Chicago, tracks old and new of the past twenty-five years, Marcel Dettmann communicates his message with an apparent effortlessness.
KOBOSIL (Ostgut Ton, R - Label Group. Berlin)
Following a Barker & Baumecker remix and the release of his debut EP in the early summer of 2013, his profile has been on the rise. Quick recognition of his raw, though undeveloped, musical abilities by Ostgut Ton opened the door to a twelve-inch on its Unterton sublabel, as well as his first DJ booking at Berghain less than one month later. The widespread reception of his sets had earned him a residency before the year had even reached a close. Given such early success, it’s only natural that comparisons with the likes of Answer Code Request and Marcel Dettmann, both of whom have trodden a similar path, will be drawn, but Kobosil says he is focused only on carving his own identity.
VERA (Hello? Repeat!, Perlon. Berlin)
Veras timeless music selection, a subtle mixing style and her authentic, elegant appearance behind the decks impressed clubbers and promoters all around the globe. Constantly evolving and picking up impulses, she follows her intuition rather then trends and she keeps surprising with unexpected sets, that have an unpretentious, female touch. Veras media are her vinyls, that she’s choosing from a decent record collection. For her it’s all about the story a dj is telling and the ambience being created, not about genres or playing one big tune after the other. Each gig she prepares passionately, trying to imagine and select the right music for each place she's visiting.
DJ MASDA aka Yuki Masda (Cabaret Recordings. Tokyo)
One of Japans finest electronic music artists, pushing the boundaries in Tokyo & taking the Japanese music scene to the next level. He plays together with the likes of Fumiya Tanaka regularly with his residencies at clubs like Chaos. He is the co-founder of Cabaret Recordings together with So Inagawa and has done some sick releases with Binh, Evan Baggs & more.
