NICK FONTANA is a DJ who distinguishes himself through minimal grooves, distinctive tones, and an unconventional way of bringing about music. Having explored the many genres of music, house music was the kind that he felt most attracted to. From the nightlife experiences where he was able to indulge in music by his favorite Italian DJs, such as Ralf and Claudio Coccoluto, he was able to further develop his ear and taste for quality music. After contemplating on how he could fit into the equation, he decided to take a bold step and contribute to the scene himself by sharing through djing. After countless of times where he received positive reinforcement, he decided to leave Italy and take it to the next level… in Amsterdam. Freedom of the body and soul are the driving factors for Nick Fontana’s distinctive grooves. The sound of a particular beat or the groove of some funk, that make the crowd lose their minds, is his major inspiration for the elements he combines.
VOET are two teenaged brothers; Milan, 19, studies law; Youri, 16, is in the 5th year of VWO highschool. The Voet brothers became interested in dj-ing 5 years ago, and have played a few gigs in Amsterdam & Zaandam, including The Bus. The boys have also taught themselves to produce, and are working on their first release.
NUMBER4 (aka The Spinner) started playing at age 16. Already visiting parties at age 14, he was always looking very closely at the dj's playing, and wanted to do that too. He bought vinyl players and a mix table, and after a lot of hours of practice, he recorded a demo, sending it out to different organizations. Invited to play local parties in Purmerend, Number4/The Spinner was seen by several organizations, leading to bigger parties in Amsterdam & Zaandam. 2008-9 he was Friday resident at Club Subway in Zaandam; famous old underground spot for rave parties. After some years of gabber, his taste changed towards techno, and deciding to play techno under a new alias, became Number 4, (the name coming from an old record). Investing in equipment & music, Number 4 started recording demo's, again sending them out to organizations. This move lead to many gigs, as well as a few residencies, with several different party organizations..~~including The Bus!
BRENT SPAR (aka Tarnation) started playing housemusic in the beginning of the 90's. He had his first contact with turntables at age 13, at 16, he had his first gig in a local youth centre playing rave music. Soon he was running a dj-cafe (7 yrs), and giving his own parties at local disco's
His influences are Fierce Ruling Diva, Dano, Moby, & Jeff Mills. Starting out on vinyl, he took a break when cds took over the scene. In 2010 he made a comeback playing [progressive] (minimal) techno & techhouse too in Club LA, Club Q, Kiehool Frl, Cafe VoemVoem, Me Tante, Buona Sera, Code21, Korsakoff, What Is On Your Mind, C-Bar(Israel), Pand14, The Bunker,
Stubnitz, Discotheque Starlight, AMP Studios, Afdeling Techno, Planet-G, Bootleg DJ Cafe, a residency in Maxim Music Factory (Rotterdam), The Spot @ Bussum, Rock On BBQ's, Erotic Ink, FriendsForFriends, WhooppelClub, Loveboat Afterparty, Cafe Schuim, 12-hrs Techno, Condo Techno, resident @ Huppels Inc. and many more small clubs and venues, including The Bus!
ANDY CLARKE began in Scotland in 1990 helping to organise raves. A move to England in '94 saw Andy also move from behind the scenes to behind the turntables, honing his skills in London warehouses. A move to Amsterdam in '96, found him spinning in Silo, Melkweg, Trance Buddha, Club114, ADM, & Radio 100. An appearance at Dance Valley#3 followed. The years that followed found Andy working with Darren Crowley, Paul Jay; residencies at Greenhouse Effect, Korsakoff, & Cheeky Monday. Also played in Hungary (Budapest).
After a brief sabbatical, Andy Clarke has returned with a new fresh attitude & killer tunes to boot. As well as resident at Mustard, with MC Marxman, Andy can often be found playing with Amsterdam's legendary organisation The Bus, alongside the likes of Carlijn & Gino Lightner. Andy has returned to blistering eclectic form, leading to recent appearances at the legendary Paradiso (with The Bus), The Magneet Festival and Panama.
The Bus Party Organization was started in '96 to bring English dj John OO Fleming to Amsterdam. Borrowing the name from the philosophy of 1960's Merry Pranksters, The Bus got running Sat 2 March 1996 at Amsterdam's Catacomben with Fleming. Sat 20 Apr '96 Dave Randall made his Amsterdam debut on The Bus. Fri 9 Aug '96, The Bus made their Paradiso VIP Club debut with Dave. The Bus' 1-yr anniversary was celebrated at Paradiso with John Fleming. In total 14+ Paradiso parties including international djs Billy Nasty, Fabio Paras, Steve Thomas, Devilfish & local heros JP, Angelo, Paul Jay, Cellie, Gino, Misja, The Bus is also responsible for memorable parties at Church of Ruigoord, Mazzo, various squats, & has travelled to Denmark with Het Amsterdam Ballongezelschap to help organize parties.
In 2001 when Ken "Chief Prankster" Kesey passed on, The Bus took a back seat in party world. After an overhaul, The Bus is back. With twice-monthly parties at Frisco Inn, plus parties at Cue Bar as well as Paradiso & Pand 14, The Bus is in talks with some of Holland's biggest organizers. What to expect on a Bus party?~~Excellent music (techno/acid/house), handmade decoration, a fun warm friendly atmosphere, & an opportunity for new artists to work with established. Are you on The Bus?
