Plafonddienst, supplier of dreamy futuristic beats, presents two evenings at the Sugarfactory this years Amsterdam Dance Event. Six live acts from six different countries are on the menu from 19.30 to 22.30, for you to start your ADE evening with laidback beats and good vibes. On Thursday October 17th it’s Kastle, Tourist and Liar; on Saturday 19th it’s Robot Koch, Rangleklods and Julien Mier.
Young Dutchman Julien Mier kicks off the event on Saturday. He is celebrating the release of a new remix EP where his last EP ‘When Will They Wake Up’ is getting a makeover. On the vinyl , released by the Canadian King Deluxe Records, the tracks are reconstructed by Sun Glitters, Kettel and Gillepsy.
After years of classical training Julien Mier has entered the electronic realm, but he still loves to use acoustic instruments for his music. In his live shows everything can be an instrument, from an ashtray to field recordings, everything is sampled into a smooth mash of glitchy electronics.
Rangleklods' sound also consists of recorded instruments, noises and analogue gear alongside purely digital and intensely programmed patterns intertwining into audioscapes ranging from minimal to 'Wall of Sound'. Both in that regard and composition-wise Rangleklods points just as much backwards towards David Bowie and The Doors as it does forwards, animated by ie. James Holden and The Field.
Although Berlin based producer robot koch has an international reputation as being “One of Europe`s finest producers of the beat generation“ (Low End Theory), he is much more than just a beatmaker. “Post-dubstep infused electronic hiphop“ is far too constrained a label to understand what this producer is all about.
The last time Julien Mier released a remix record, Robot Koch edited ‘Porcelain Dust’ into a chilled out tune to firmly bobble your head to.
