Chemobox

Chemobox! A night focusing on the radioactive wasteland between electro, techno, acid and dubstep. It´s been quite a while since the last edition with 2562 (currently playing all over the globe), so we figured by now the time would be ripe for Chemobox, round two! For this edition SDM has asked two highly experienced Dutch underground dj´s to come and spin their records at the LVC: Pete Concrete and Ruwedata! SDM´s locals Turbo Polyp and Bsschp22 will fill in the gaps. We´d like to invite all you lovers of modern electronic dance music to come and join us on the 21st of February for this party... Get your skank/jack/groove/move on!

SDM has regularly thrown parties in Leiden like the Saturday Night Fish Fry, Diepzeegeheimen and Acid Jack Attic, booking artists from Legowelt to FFF and Ra-X to Newworldaquarium, to name (just coincidentally...) a few of the big ones!

PS: All the people who came to check out the bands at de Halve Finale Grote Prijs van ZH can stay in for free, to have a little dance and booze and see what all the fuzz is about... Or in other words: Leaving early would be a waste of money!

Pete Concrete has made some sick eclectic mixes which can be found all across the internet. He’s been on the `SDM-should-be-booked-list´ for a long time. We’re glad to have him aboard for this one. Expect the unexpected!

`DJ/producer/label-owner & promotor with a broad taste for all sorts of electronics. Started DJ-ing at the age of fourteen, initially greatly inspired by early Detroit techno, acidhouse, hiphop and the Manchester scene. Soon got involved in organising parties, started the influential Mononom collective with his friends and founded the Mononom label on which he released his first tracks.
Known for his eclectic taste, Pete Concrete is constantly trying to stretch the boundaries of modern electronics, incorparating any style that catches his attention, be it psychedelics, dub, tekno, ambient, jazz, industrial, hiphop or otherwise. Today he's running his Eat Concrete label for releasing own productions using several monikers, as well as music made by friends and likeminded musicians worldwide. Besides playing parties and building the Eat Concrete label he is hosting radio shows for Samurai FM, Radio Banzai and delivers guest appearances for radioshows around the globe.´

The Artist Formerly Known As Thijs Dstruct! Many in the Leiden region may know him as part of the infamous Dstruct collective. He also was one of the organizers of the (sadly stopped) Bassklap nights in the LVC. Nowadays he’s involved with the bassheavy Lowriders nights in Rotterdam. In the last few years he has become quite a well known figure in the Dutch dubstep scene. Ruwedata has the ability to tightly mix a wide variety of different styles.

`My style evolved in the last couple of years, now i play dubstep, electronica, abstract hiphop and oldskool (acid, techno, electro). But i still love to mix acid-hardcore tekno warehouse style.
Besides playing a lot of freeparties (squatparties), i've played in places like: Nighttown (Rotterdam), Waterfront (Rotterdam), Worm (Rotterdam), Bootleg (Rotterdam), Paard van Troje (Den Haag), Ekko (Utrecht), Atak (Enschede), Dynamo (Eindhoven) & LVC (Leiden) and some clubs in Belgium.´
