Residencies and Global Events
In 2013, Defected Records launched DFTD, a sub-label aimed at showcasing emerging talent and a broader spectrum of electronic music. The inaugural release was Guti's "Hope EP," setting the tone for the sub-label's diverse offerings. ​

In 2016, Defected launched the Defected Croatia festival in Tisno, which has since become a staple event featuring performances from renowned artists like Basement Jaxx, CamelPhat, and Peggy Gou. ​

In 2024, celebrating its 25th anniversary, Defected moved its Ibiza residency to Ushuaïa, initiating a 22-event residency every Tuesday at the renowned beach hotel. ​

Notable Releases and Chart Success
Defected has maintained its reputation for delivering influential tracks. In 2017, the label released "Cola" by CamelPhat & Elderbrook, which achieved global acclaim and was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2018 Grammy Awards. The track also reached number one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. ​

In 2019, Roberto Surace's "Joys" topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and became a summer anthem in Ibiza. The same year, Endor's "Pump It Up!" reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart and dominated dance floors worldwide. ​

Leadership Transition and Strategic Acquisitions
In September 2022, founder Simon Dunmore sold Defected Records to investor Stephen Devonshire and Chief Executive Wez Saunders through their takeover vehicle, Optimum Defected Holdings Limited. This transition marked a new era for the label, with Saunders emphasizing the importance of evolution to maintain relevance in the dynamic music industry. ​

Demonstrating a commitment to preserving and promoting house music heritage, Defected acquired the catalog of influential producer Todd Edwards in 2020. This move ensured that Edwards's pioneering work became accessible to new audiences, further enriching the label's diverse portfolio. ​

Glitterbox: A Celebration of Disco and House
In 2014, Defected introduced Glitterbox, a nightlife brand conceptualized by Simon Dunmore. Aimed at creating an inclusive party atmosphere, Glitterbox quickly gained a reputation for its uplifting blend of house and disco music. Initially hosted at Space Ibiza, the event moved to Hï Ibiza in 2017, continuing its tradition of flamboyant Sunday night parties. ​

Adaptation During the COVID-19 Pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Defected swiftly adapted by launching virtual events to keep the spirit of house music alive. These online festivals attracted millions of viewers worldwide, demonstrating the label's resilience and commitment to its global community. ​

25th Anniversary Celebrations
In 2024, Defected Records celebrated its 25th anniversary with a series of major events and releases. The celebrations included a world tour featuring 25 residencies in 25 countries, a new podcast series, a special playlist, and the "Together" series, which showcased 25 new collaborative productions. These initiatives highlighted Defected's enduring influence and commitment to innovation in the house music genre. ​
