Sun 10 Sep 2006 SPYKER CARS N.V. ACQUIRES MIDLAND MF1 RACING

Monza, Italy, September 10, 2006 - - Spyker Cars N.V. (“Spyker”) manufacturer of high-end sport cars today announced that it has acquired Midland F1 Racing Limited (“MF1 Racing”) of Silverstone, United Kingdom from Midland Resources Holding Ltd.

Highlights

* Team to be called Spyker MF1 Racing and will be a 100% subsidiary of Spyker.
* Michiel Mol to join the Management Board of both Spyker and Spyker MF1 Racing as Director of Formula One Racing.
* Mike Gascoyne becomes Spyker MF1 Racing’s Chief Technology Officer effective November 1, 2006.
* Colin Kolles remains Team Principal of Spyker MF1 Racing.
* Fred Mulder to join the Supervisory Board of Spyker.
* Acquisition to be finalized by September 30, 2006.
* Transaction to be financed by means of a fully underwritten share issue of 2,650.000 shares at € 20 per share (totally 53 million euros, the majority of which will be taken up by Michiel Mol), in addition to an interest free vendor loan for the remainder. The new shares represent 40% of all outstanding shares after the share issue.
* All new issued shares shall have a 180 days lock-up.
* The enterprise value for MF1 Racing amounts to US$ 106.6 million payable as follows:
- Initial payment upon closing per September 30, 2006 of
US$ 68.6 million.
- First deferred payment of US$ 15 (fifteen, ignore the four) million
payable on the first anniversary of closing.
* Second deferred payment of US$ 23 million payable on the
second anniversary of closing.
* Earnings per share in the book year 2006 will increase as a
consequence of the MF1 Racing acquisition and Spyker Cars
expects to be profitable this year.
* Transaction subject to approval by the Extraordinary Shareholders.
* Meeting of Spyker Cars N.V. to be held in Zeewolde on Wednesday September 27, 2006 at 14:00 hours.
* Announcement on 2007 engine supply agreement to follow shortly.

Victor R. Michiel Mol, future Director of Formula One Racing of Spyker and Spyker MF1 Racing stated: “Today my lifelong ambition became reality. After being involved with Formula One as a sponsor of teams and drivers for almost 10 years I will now participate as a shareholder in a very ambitious manufacturer owned Formula One Team. Colin Kolles, Team Principal of Spyker MF1 Racing stated:

Had Midland not stepped in and rescued the Jordan team in February 2005, we would not be in a position to announce this deal today. Mike Gascoyne, Spyker MF1 Racing future Chief Technology Officer stated: “I have only recently met Victor Muller and Michiel Mol and they impressed me enormously with their commitment to Formula One and performance program. Komt er dan ook een blok van Spyker in? En gaan ze de auto ook zelf ontwikkelen? Lijkt me nogal moeilijk om dan gelijk mee te kunnen concurreren.

Oke, dus vooralsnog is alleen de naam eraan gekoppeld.

Dat het team niet stil staat werd tevens duidelijk uit het feit dat ze direct bekend hebben gemaakt Mike Gascoyne te hebben aangetrokken als technisch directeur. Het team liet verder weten zeer binnenkort bekend te maken met welke motoren ze zullen racen volgend jaar. Naar verluidt zal gebruik worden gemaakt van Ferrari V8 motoren.

Naar verluidt zal gebruik worden gemaakt van Ferrari V8 motoren.

Hoe gaat zoiets in zn werk dan? Hebben ze dan dezelfde motoren als het Ferrari-team? Of krijgen ze de motoren van vorig jaar ofzo?

Gascoyne has worked for several grand prix teams including McLaren, Sauber and Tyrrell. More recently Gascoyne has worked as technical director at Jordan and Renault and joined the Toyota F1 team in December 2003. With a salary reputed to be as high as $8 million per year (source F1 Racing magazine, February 2005) this would make Gascoyne the most highly paid engineer in Formula One, eclipsing more successful Technical Directors such as Adrian Newey and Ross Brawn.

Gascoyne's highly confrontational and aggressive management style has earned him the nickname "the bulldog".

nog meer centen verdienen aan Spyker...( wy leveren aandrijflijnen voor de mooie bolides...)

Hoop voor Spyker dat ze succes gaan boeken

hopen dat het niet gaat regene.. al die roestige spijkers

(Kw)Albers was dichtbij een contract voor 2007 bij Midland F1. Colin Kolles blijft waarschijnlijk aan als teambaas, dus ik denk dat Albers volgend jaar gewoon start bij SpykerF1. Doornbosch blijft bij RBR, volgens mij een betere optie!
En de 2e rijder zal wel een zak geld mee moeten nemen, dus dat wordt dan geen Nederlander!

Ferrari-motoren kan, maar Red-Bull heeft een nog contract met Ferrari voor een van hun teams. Renault wellicht, of anders Cosworth.... En het gerucht gaat dat Mercedes ook klantenteams gaat voorzien. Dus dat kan nog alle kanten op.

Las in Formule1-Racereport dat er een of andere kerel uit verwegistan 15% aandelen heeft van Spyker, en ook 5% van Ferrari, dus dat kan ook nog mee-spelen. '

Maar, het blijft F1

Alles kan, één ding is zeker, SpykerF1 staat volgend jaar met twee auto's aan de start!

hoop dat spyker beter presteert dan midland voorheen maar het budget zal wel niet veel hoger liggen, al denk ik dat spyker wel meer potentïeel heeft laten we het hopen

Het Formule 1-team van Spyker heeft vanaf volgend seizoen de beschikking over Ferrari-motoren. Dat heeft teambaas Colin Kolles exclusief tegenover F1Racing.nl bevestigd in Shanghai, waar dit weekend de Grand Prix van China wordt verreden.

Spyker moest op zoek naar nieuwe motoren, omdat het voormalige Midland-team nog geen motorendeal had gesloten voor volgend jaar. Colin Kolles, teambaas van Spyker MF1, zei tegenover F1Racing.nl: "Ik kan inderdaad bevestigen dat we vanaf volgend jaar met Ferrari-motoren zullen rijden. We zijn uiteraard heel erg blij met deze deal."

Van Toyota, de huidige motorpartner van Spyker, was bekend dat zij na dit seizoen motoren gaat leveren aan Williams. Spyker zou ook hebben onderhandeld met Cosworth. De deal met Ferrari betekent dat de Britse motorenbouwer, die dit jaar aan Williams en Toro Rosso levert, volgend seizoen niet meer in de Formule 1 zit.

Het Nederlandse leasebedrijf LeasePlan heeft een driejarige sponsordeal gesloten met het Formule 1-team van Spyker. Dat heeft het team vandaag bekendgemaakt. Het logo van LeasePlan zal al vanaf de Braziliaanse Grand Prix op de auto's te zien zijn. De overeenkomst zou om miljoenen gaan.

pyker F1 Team is delighted to announce that Adrian Sutil will partner Christijan Albers in the 2007 FIA F1 World Championship after signing a long term contract today.

Sutil, 23 from Munich, Germany, drove three Grand Prix Friday`s for Spyker in 2006 while concentrating on winning the tough and prestigious Japanese F3 Championship for the Tom`s Toyota team. In 2005 Adrian was runner-up to Champion and ASM team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the European F3 series.

Destined to follow his Uruguayan-born father into a musical career, Adrian trained and practised as a concert pianist until he was 14: "when I discovered karting. From that moment on the sound of racing engines was the only music I wanted to hear. I really enjoyed being in the F1 Paddock this year", continued Adrian, "and to be honest I thought I would be a test driver in 2007. Colin Kolles and Michiel Mol have been fantastically patient and supportive while this package became reality. I look forward to repaying their faith in me but right now I`m just going to enjoy the best Christmas present ever."

Colin Kolles, Spyker F1 Team Principal: "This is a great signing for team but also a proud one for me personally. Adrian made his F3 debut with Team Kolles in 2004 and quite obviously had huge potential when he scored his first pole position in his third race. He has driven for two great teams since then and matured very quickly.
