As clever as we are,..
We let some people study your Language, so they could teach it to others.
And all this take's place in buildings we call School's.

Ofcourse I learned a lot from the television. But since a few years, I'm part of an online community, and I speak to the guys almost every day. Most of them are from the UK, or from Ireland, so English is the main language we use!
I learned the basics on school, and from the television. But I learned the more difficult words or lines in this online community!

nee je naam is lkrr .
cursus nederlands mischien.
I attended an International school in my younger years, where the language is obviously English. And at home we spoke English, as my dad did not speak any Dutch at that time, I didn't attend a 'normal' Dutch school until I was 10. I even still dream in English sometimes and can even express myself better in this language! It is strange after all those years, but true.

I KNOW!! But why the hell do some young people speak it so badly then? I listen to some people my age, or younger, using the English language and it astonishes me. It doesn't even resemblance US tv or anything. I find it quite strange, people should speak more English I recon..
But then again, if you can become PM of Holland with such an accent, why should anyone even try?

recon? your complaining about people using english badly, and yet you use the word recon.
And? The problem with that is........ ? At least I use the language..
But my comment was a friendly one, I was not complaining. I am just wondering how it can be that in this day and age younger people sometimes speak English in a not so fantastic way. With all the US/UK programs on tv, books, magazines and English songs one could imagine that the use of the language could be better. But my experiance it that it is not.
*edit*
I just realized that "recon" is obviously not a British English word, it's an Australian English slang kind of thing... I worked with Ozzies for years.. But it's English

Talking with love and feeling in any language would make the world a much nicer place.
Still, I'm curious to know why you are placing so much emphasis on English when we're living in the Netherlands?
