Spootnik

Spootnik started producing and mixing vinyls at the age of 12. When he heard electronic dance music for the 1st time in the early 90's he became hooked for life. At the beginning of the new millennium he got introduced to freetekno raves and this is where his story began.

After playing on various soundsystems in the early 00's, he and two friends started DVS (dikke vinger soundsystem) in 2008. Organising most memorable raveparties throughout the Netherlands and Belgium up till 2013. Those who lived that days will surely remember.

In 2007 spootnik played his 1st set at a venue for Zodiak14 by Zodiak Commune. After that spootnik became a regularly booked dj at hardcore, techno and legally organised acid/tekno raves as well. In 2010 he joined PLUR events as a resident dj on their parties.

In 2013 spootnik and PLUR events organised the 1st edition of RETTEKETEKNO in a venue near Amsterdam, working together with soundsystems chewbakka, lsd, rumoer, fubar, dvs and offcores. What started little grew out to be a well known party concept of 2 area's with visual artists, big speakerwalls, merchandise stands, international dj's and live acts in it's own original atmosphere. After 7 editions, the last edition was held in 2016.

Around 2010 spootnik started playing more abroad as well. Mostly in Eastern Germany and Belgium. His highlights were his performances at Tacheles and the Fuckparade in Berlin. Spootnik was also involved in the start up of # 23, but after 2015 went his own way.

At the end of 2016 spootnik took a break from dj'ing for a few years. It was in the covid period around 2021 when he slowly became more active again, playing at local raves and doing some streams. In 2023 he played for DKH at the big New Years Eve rave in Sombreffe 🇧🇪 and later that year at the 25th anniversary of Acid Anonymous multirave on the dutch/german border. He also made his comeback in the club at OUTERSPACE 8.

Spootnik's way of mixing vinyls can be discribed as original and energetic. He likes to combine different styles and sub-genres into a story of it's own, always searching for the edges, building up tempo and atmosphere. When spootnik is behind the decks you will notice.
