Living in Amsterdam

At the moment i am thinking about moving to Amsterdam,
what is the town like for everyday living ?
Is there smog in the summer or nice air every day.
Is it expensive to live there or just avarage for european metropols? Is the metro and the tram working fine or not?

i think it's even expensive in London as it is in Amsterdam.
but you have to look where.
because outside of the city it;s cheaper than in the centre.
and the trams are working fine.
it's better to go with the tram than with the car.

due to the questions you ask, i guess you didn't come often to Amsterdam Maybe you should come more often before moving...

Amsterdam is a pretty relaxed city, but that can depend on which neighbourhood you live in.

the public transport is pretty good, but i find it expensive, if you live close to the center a bike is better.

almost every day delays and some shit with the public transport...also,very expensive...if u have no credit card u r not able to buy the ticket on the maschine bla bla...

I dislike A'dam...Utrecht is much better

you can buy tickets easly with bills inside the tram, in some shops and with coins in the metro.

that's why I love live in Italy


I like A'dam but I would never live there... ok it's full of life tourists ecc but I prefere live outside the city center

in italy we have minimum and basicly 30 minutes dealy on every public transport every single days and I said MINIMUM 30 minutes

Tunnel is typical Hamburg!! I can't eimagine Tunnel in Amsterdam..

mhh i^ll just try and move to amsterdam next week. It would be better if i try out myself. I already got a appartment and a job, so no problem. I ve been in amsterdam this weekend and so far it^s realy nice. Rain okay i think i can handle it.

well,I love small and cute city's as Utrecht...Amsterdam is ok but there's more foreigns then dutch..Utrecht has couple of nice clubs too...A'dam is more fancy and clubs full of the old (fetish) ppl...etc.

At the moment i live in London, they have about 30% british people here i guess So far i didn`t meet any.
And even i am a foreign too
I ll get my room and start my job on Monday

almost everybody speaks english in holland ,so no problem i guess. But learning some dutch is not bad for you it will only sounds like you are sick in the beginning ( ghhh grrr geee ) GOOD LUCK!!

True. I don't practice my dutch much because everybody speaks english, especially in Amsterdam.

You don't have to learn dutch it won't help you. There are only a few country's where they speak dutch. Speaking dutch is hard to learn i think that's why a lot of dutch people can speak so many languages. If you can learn how to speak dutch you can learn every language (i think so)

Why move to Amsterdam if you can have it all in London?.I find London more interesting then Amsterdam.Its more expensive in London tho if it comes to get an appartment, clothes and food are way more expensive than in London.

I think that amsterdam is not the city to live in!
If you walk around in Amsterdam, the only people you will see are foreign people from: china, japan, germany. and the culture of Amsterdam is weird. erverything is based on the tourism!!! But it is you choise

But it is your choise.
My boyfriend lives in Amsterdam but at the other side of the city where no tourists are. But a lot of marroc and turkisch people.

Err.. I think that the smog is everywhere. but in Amsterdam are a lot of buses, trams and metro's. You can reach everypart of Amsterdam.

I would advice you to go take a look before you decide

it's much worse in London, here we have ghettos with Turks, Jews, Jamaicans, Pakistanis. You see hardly any English people until you go outside of zone 4 or 5 (rail/underground ticket zones).

I was really suprised that most of the security peeps at Heathrow were Pakistanis and blacks.

But ontopic again.

Amsterdam is pretty ok to live in but if you want to sniff up some dutch culture then it's not the place to be.

And my room is about half price of London and i have got fresh air

i just want to study in A'dam but
the only problem is that the Netherlands
is not listed as a Study aboard program.

The only programs are in Madrid or Vienna ;/
and i dont want to study in Italy ;/ (nothing aganist it)
but i much rather be in Holland!

Amsterdam is a great city to live
But if I were you I'd come over to Holland and pay Amsterdam a visit, because you just might as well not like it at all

i am living in amsterdam and so far its realy nice, not much different from hamburg, the whores in the red light district are advertising less agressiv than in hamburg ...
amsterdam is a little bit smaller and mhh i have to figure out more about it

I lived in London for 8 months, Amsterdam is cheap if you compare it with that city. Apartment rent etc..

Public transport is ok, not as good as in London.
