Maar ff serieus, van Joey Beltram nog is een goeie oldskool set horen is natuurlijk niet niks.
Heb hem in al me jaren feesten maar 1 X meegemaakt als DJ, bij dat feest op de scheveningse pier.
Was volgens mij 1990.

Hij is volgens mij nooit echt een DJ geweest die het hele jaar maar tourt, maar meer een "ik sluit me op in me studio" type denk ik.

Ja. wat ik bedoel, is dat ik de ouwe sound goed vind, maar juist de combinatie met nieuw nog beter. De djs die je daar ziet, zijn wel een stuk beter dan wat we hier krijgen.

Das een ding dat zeker is, als je hier een ultimate 90`s rave heb krijg je lownoise en theo en 2 brothers on the fourth floor, etc.

En ook al zijn het allemaal oldskool dj`s op die flyer, ze hebben wel allemaal een eigen stijl.
Een goeie mengelmoes van DJ`s.

REAL TALK:

Hopefully you can tell the video is tongue-in-cheek, but it carries an important message. My critics seem to think that's how I am in real life, but that couldn't be further from the truth! They think it's easy to produce authentic early 90s hardcore, but it's really not. Yes, I could cut corners to save time, and turn in music I'm not truly happy with, but that would defeat the whole point...

My goal is to faithfully recreate the essence of the early Impact Records releases, and to make tunes you'll enjoy spinning again and again, for years to come. To get this right takes time and dedication. I'm well aware that I could put in less time/effort, and that *some* people would still be happy with the music, but *I* wouldn't, and that's important.

For *me* to be satisfied with the music, I have to go to great lengths. E.g. I have to work with analogue equipment that's cumbersome to use, but has a distinctive sound to it. I have to spend hours, days, and sometimes weeks searching for the right samples. I have to deliberate over riffs, and rework arrangements over and over until I find the winning combination. Even after all that work, some tracks don't make the mark, and end up in the scrap heap.

It wasn't quite like that back in the day. Truth be told, some of my best tracks were some of the quickest to make. But that was when everything was fresh and innovative. It was easier to find fresh samples back then, and easier to be inventive because there was always so much yet to be explored. Now more than ever it's tricky to make good music that A) doesn't sound too much like something else, and is novel enough without compromising authenticity.

And I'm not complaining – I love the challenge, it's exciting – but it does require a load of extra work that clearly my critics are unaware of. If I listened to them I wouldn't be crowd-funding, but then I'd suffer from that nagging feeling of wondering what music could've been created, had I had the freedom to properly commit myself and put in the effort.

Is it worth it? I certainly think so. There's no other music that does for me what the early 90s hardcore does, but I have to confess, I do yearn for fresh material after rinsing out my favourite records over the years. While I'm satisfied with both of the previous crowd-funded projects, perhaps the second one was done slightly better because of things I learned from doing the first one. If I can get your support this time, I hope to continue that trend.

There's absolutely NO guarantee this campaign will hit the target. I don't take your support for granted in the least bit. But if it does go ahead, the music will be in a similar vein. I have to make it clear, I WILL NOT be exploring the mid-late 95 "Bust The New Jam" type of sound. I enjoyed that music when it really was the new jam, but for Back To 93-95, I want to angle it to fit nicely with the previous two projects.

Still on the fence? Yeah, I know I'm asking you to take a leap of faith. Firstly, I must stress: I honestly wouldn't be doing it this way if I wasn't gonna go all out. Secondly, if the last two projects are anything to go by, the exclusivity of the project means that the vinyl will have a great resale value. That's because these tracks aren't going on general release, won't be put out on streaming services, and won't be repressed in the future.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: This new music I want to do won't exist unless this campaign is successful, as I won't otherwise have the resources to make it happen. It would be a real shame if this doesn't go ahead. With everything I've learned up until this point, I'm ready to put my heart and soul into recapturing that magic 90s nostalgia.

As with the previous two projects, if this goes ahead, you'll also receive a pack of assorted bonuses (more music in digital format).

Risks and challenges
Life can always throw curve balls in our path, so if for any reason whatsoever I'm unable to deliver the project on time (end of 2021, absolute latest!) I will offer you a full refund. There's always a risk of delays, but thankfully, the last two projects were delivered on time. All the rewards have been priced taking into account all costs involved, and also the level of commitment, time and effort on my behalf to make sure all 10 tracks will be totally authentic, and the best they can possibly be.

Maar is een erg lekkere EP.
