Last Saturday night we visited In Qontrol, located in the RAI, Amsterdam 🇳🇱. My party mate Jacco picked me up by car. It was a ride of approximately one hour from Ridderkerk to Amsterdam. Plenty of time to have a nice chat about the In Qontrol party and the high expectations of this Q-Dance event. Q-Dance is one of the main players of the Dutch dance scene and has proven to deliver high quality.
We were talking about our memories of the good old “Qlass Elite” days, the name of the organization where Q-Dance is originated from. Respect for the growth of their organization and the events they organized. Time was passing by as we were getting close to the RAI.
We parked the car at the VIP parking and it all went very smooth. It was a matter of getting our press wristlets at the guestlist-entrance and after the security check (from top to bottom), we were inside already!
When entering the RAI, I noticed that it was going to be a wonderful night: All the areas were well decorated, each area with its own style/theme. Lots of lasers were moving around, the music was pounding everywhere and the DJ’s were already getting loose. The party people were definitely enjoying themselves and very excited!
At around 1 AM we went to to VIP room, hosted by DJ Dana & Friends. It was not very crowded, but you have a nice view over the area’s from there. For example, you could see the “Studio 3” area. This area was hosted in a outdoor festival tent, hosting Techno & Schranz heroes. In the meantime we were still enjoying a nice Old School set in the VIP and wondering who’s behind the wheels of steel: it’s Promo! Not expecting this sound from Promo, so both surprised and appreciating, we decided to hang around, get a beer and chat around.
So I got into a conversation with DJ Dione, he played his set around 10 PM in the “Hardcore Studio” and was happy to be off the rest of the evening. He told me that despite the early timing, the area was already packed, while the other areas still seemed to be quite empty. Hardcore is still alive!
Now it was about time to visit the “Studio 1” area. DJ Pavo & DJ Zany were busy with a rough hardstyle set. The lasers were moving around rapidly and in the centre of the area you see a “King-Kong” disco ball, creating an awesome lasershow when hit by the lasers. At 3AM, DJ Tatanka and MC Ruffian took over. Ruffian shouted: “In Qontrol. Is everybody still In Qontrol?”, “This is what you paid for! Let me hear you, let me hear you if you are satisfied!”. The crowd went mad on Tatanka’s beats and Ruffian was stirring it up to another level: Goose bumps, this is what partying is all about! It was very difficult to try to stand still on those banging beats. This is Q-dance!
Another goal of visiting In Qontrol was to enjoy the fresh, hard and pounding Techno music, so we decided to walk to the “Studio 3” area. It was already 04:15 AM when we arrived. Taking a brief look at the timetable made me realize that I just missed Miss Djax, what a pity! But hell, our German gladiator Marco Remus just started. Marco was building his set up like it should, from pounding to hard Techno music. The crowd was definitely appreciating it and, again, treated with a stunning laser show.
Marco Remus handed over the torch to his German colleague Frank Kvitta. Frank is speeding up the tempo and before we had time to notice we were already dancing (“Tanzen und Schranzen”) for at least half an hour. Sweating like an ox, our legs got exhausted and it was already 5.45 AM! a good moment to leave the party and get back to the car.
In the car it was time again for a nice chat with my party mate Jacco, evaluating the night. Looking back at a fantastic night, I’m very enthusiastic about my first “In Qontrol” event. Everything was organized perfectly, Q-Dance did manage to realize a high quality event!
Props to Q-Dance for this superb night, keep up the good work!
