Q You gained a lot of popularity in the past few years and you are supported by many big names.
It seems you have become one of the most wanted producers of the moment. What’s your success
and what can we expect from you in 2013?
A I'm an underground music lover since I was a youngster. At first, I was interessed in mixing (in
2001) and afterwards in producing (2005). Between 2007 and 2011, I mainly performed in the
Jumpstyle world. That has permitted me to play in few clubs in Belgium and in the North of France.
But all things considered, I didn't belong to this style of music. So at the beginning of 2011, I
concentrated myself at underground productions and not without success! I'm supported by many
artists around the world: Brasil, Japan, Germany, U.K, Holland, Russia, Belgium, France, USA, Spain
& Austria... I cannot explain the success of my productions, I simply do what I like without caring
about trends. My projects for 2013 are simple, after more than 200 productions signed in 2 years, i'm
going to slow down the work. I'm will devote a part of my time to my label called "Benzyme
Recordings" (created in July 2012) and make promo for my tracks in Jack'in & Hard-Techno.
Q Techno music has changed a lot in the past 20 years. What are your views on the current state of
techno and how do you see the genre progressing?
A I'm not a fan of the recent Techno because rhythms at 125 BPM bore me. I always had a more
oldschool vision of the electronic music. I think we'll come back to some older tones and less
minimal. The world of music is like fashion world, it re-starts again and again. I have noticed that
many releases are based on acid, such as in the early 90's. All I can do is encourage those
producers to carry on their way.
Q Every year, there are new labels and new ways of spreading music.
How do you feel about spreading music using the internet and social media?
A I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing. The list of releases per day is impressive, due to the easy
way to create your own label and upload your MP3 on the web. We've got to make a big selection,
but that permits us to discover some new artists and talents.
Q DJ gear evolved a lot over the years. Most DJ’s nowadays are using laptops or USB drives to carry
and play their music. CD players and mixers are more complex than ever and artists like to add
controllers to give their set a very personal touch. Have there been specific ideas or techniques that
really opened up new creative possibilities for you?
A I'm very oldschool in my way of DJing. Laptops and others FX don't interest me at all. I don't
hesitate to play with vinyl when it's possible. Is there a more beautiful thing than a DJ perfectly mixing
on three SL1200? For the digital mix, I use some USB keys to bring and play my tracks, less binding
than CD's.
Q How important is your connection to the audience when you perform?
A When I make some hard mix sessions, I'm only focused on the dance floor. This means, make the
people dance with some new tracks, dotted with one or two retro tracks. This differs in a techno set. I
don't hesitate to play some deeper or more personal tracks, to surprise the listener and to bring him
to my own world. And after all, the target of a DJ is not to be a simple juke-box, but to really introduce
new sound horizons to the audience.
Q Do you have any particular achievements or peak moments that really pop out from the rest?
A When Paul Langley positioned me at the 1st place in his top 10 and pointed me out as the artist
who made the best EP in 2011 (With "Chicago Connexion" my very first EP under Trevor Benz), I
really felt honored and that’s a moment I will always remember. From the start, that permitted me to
set one feet into the International techno scene. I couldn’t dream of a better welcome.
Q For the coming years, what are the things that keep you motivated to make new music?
A I constantly need to create new sounds. I've got a new idea every day. To be more and more
supported in the international scene, that motivates me to carry on.
Q What are the first thoughts that come to your mind when you hear the word “Belgium”?
A Belgium reminds me to parties and techno (with mythic clubs such as Cherrymoon, Lagoa, Fuse,
La Bush, Liberty White...). I have got great luck to live in the North of France so I can easily go there.
Q What can we expect from your set at Cherrymoon?
A I'll make a Frenchtek and Jack'in set, I hope the Cherrymoon clubbers will like this!

DJ DROPS
DJ Drops played in extensively in Germany with guest performances in UK, Japan, Spain and many more… His first record came out in 2001 on SW7 records and in the meanwhile he released on several labels such as Jackstar Recordings, Fanatix, Banging Records and his own imprint Ego Plastix. Check him out at Q-ic’s birthday bash 2013 at the main techno floor in Cherrymoon!
http://www.facebook.com/events/458479167546046/
Q Can you tell us a bit more about your label Ego Plastix? What’s up for 2013?
A I founded EGO Plastix Records in the year 2005. The idea behind the label is simple, give new upcoming producers a chance to release their tracks with support from the big names in the scene such as Torsten Kanzler, Quick&Smart, Dj Funk, Manu Kenton, Davoodi, Neck, Dj Duncan, Mahatma and many more great artists. In 2013 I plan to continue working with good producers and new talents. I’m also planning some limited vinyls releases instead of digital only.
Q Techno music has changed a lot in the past 20 years. What are your views on the current state of techno and how do you see the genre progressing?
A I think today’s techno sound more experimental. It’s a mixture of different styles and so we have techno music mixed with hip hop, house or dubstep sounds. I really like that we have more genres of electronic music. In the 90's, the music was simple and not as mature as it sounds now. Back in those days we only had trance, drum&bass or house music.
Q Every year, there are new labels and new ways of spreading music.
How do you feel about spreading music using the internet and social media?
A I think its ok for me. The internet and the social media is a good way to promote the artist and the label. I only have a problem with the illegal download web pages.
Q DJ gear evolved a lot over the years. Most DJ’s nowadays are using laptops or USB drives to carry and play their music. CD players and mixers are more complex than ever and artists like to add controllers to give their set a very personal touch. Have there been specific ideas or techniques that really opened up new creative possibilities for you?
A In my dj sets I only use a laptop to play my promos or tracks to test, but most of the times I prefer to play vinyl... I'm a bit old school. I personally think this whole technical development is too much. A lot of these things simply don’t have anything to do with djing.
Q How important is your connection to the audience when you perform?
A Its very important for me!
Q Do you have any particular achievements or peak moments that really pop out from the rest?
A No not realy...hahaha
Q For the coming years, what are the things that keep you motivated to make new music?
Do you have any projects or ideas that you’re really excited about?
A Music is in my blood. This year, I'm working on my minimal techno project called Atze tone where I go back to the old techno. It's like a little playground for me where I can develop again. Otherwise my project The Fizzy Bobble Twins will be more in the foreground next year.
Q What are the first thoughts that come to your mind when you hear the word “Belgium”?
A Nice people, good partys, sexy girls and great beer
Q What can we expect from your set at Cherrymoon?
A I'll definitely play a couple of new tracks from the Fizzy Bobble Twins project but much more I do not want to say at this point. Expect the unexpected.

JAMIE DILL
Jamie Dill, resident DJ at Lagoa and widely known for his massive hit tracks ‘Engine’, ‘Fokus’ and his tracks as ‘The Big Bang Theory’ which are supported by many DJ’s such as Dave Clarke, Space DJ’s, Paul Langley, … Jamie Dill will set the dancefloor on fire with his unique mix of electro, techno and hard techno. Make sure you check him out at Q-ic’s birthday bash, the 2nd of February 2013 in Cherrymoon!
http://www.facebook.com/events/458479167546046/
Q Tracks as Engine and Fokus have become classic tunes that instantly rock the floors. Do you have some new pounding tracks coming up or do you have any new projects or ideas that you’re really excited about?
A I have several tracks that will come out soon on the Miditonal imprint, including some collaborations with DJ Skot and Neck. I’m aso very excited about the creation of a new label in collaboration with Frank Biazzi in a decidedly techno style.
Q Techno music has changed a lot in the past 20 years. What are your views on the current state of techno and how do you see the genre progressing?
A Musical genres come and go in waves, and I think that the return of the real techno (the origins of) is imminent.
Q Every year, there are new labels and new ways of spreading music.
How do you feel about spreading music using the internet and social media?
A This is both a good and a bad thing: On the one hand, artists can express and share their work much easier (creation of labels at a lower cost and the launch of tracks are much easier than before ...) and it is very good for them!
On the other hand, the downside is that because of the low investment cost to release a track, there are many projects that I believe are not mature and uninteresting. Those projects are coming out anyway, and therefore we must spend hours listening to tracks before we can find something that’s worth playing.
A At the base, we could only play with vinyl and the structure and duration of tracks were well defined. We were severely restricted. At present, new technologies allow us to intervene at the structure of the pieces. We all adjust, edit, add effects, loops and that, without any limit!
That’s just great!
Q How important is your connection to the audience when you perform? Do you notice a difference in this connection when you perform live or as a DJ?
A This is exactly the same for me. As soon as I perform (either live or dj set) I give myself fully, and until now the interaction with the public has always been wonderful... pure happiness!
Q You’ve been involved with electronic music for quite a while now. Do you have any particular achievements or peak moments that really pop out from the rest?
A Whenever you compose a track, it's a part of you that you put in music. And when the public’s reception is positive and the other DJ's play your tracks, it is a very pleasant sensation.
If any of these tracks stand in time and becomes a kind of "classic" is in my opinion the best reward.
Q For the coming years, what are the things that keep you motivated to make new music?
A The creation of my new label, organizing parties like Fanatek in collaboration with my friend DJ Skot, the pleasure of sharing the good times each evening and more importantly the love for the music.
Q What can we expect from your set at Cherrymoon?
A Pounding techno music!

[NOISE PROVIDER
Noise Provider aka DJ Ruthless will perform at Q-ic’s birthday bash 2013 with an exclusive live set featuring all former hit tracks and some new exclusive Noise Provider stuff!
Make sure you check him out at the main techno floor in Cherrymoon, because he will bring you back to the good ol’dayz when the noise was provided by the raw beats master!
http://www.facebook.com/events/458479167546046/
Q You are widely known as DJ Ruthless, but in the techno scene Noise Provider is the way to go.
Can we expect some new productions in 2013?
A Unfortunately no Noise Provider productions anymore. I have closed that chapter. But I will be producing a couple of tracks in this style again. I will always love it.
Q Techno music has changed a lot in the past 20 years. What are your views on the current state of techno and how do you see the genre progressing?
A I am currently not very up to date about the techno scene, I’ve always admired it, because of the atmosphere, the dedicated crowd and the minimalism of the tracks. And you can experiment, and that is very difficult in the hardstyle, jump and tek scene. I see an increase of techno parties here in Rotterdam, that’s a very good thing! Anyway, I think techno will always be around.
Q Every year, there are new labels and new ways of spreading music.
How do you feel about spreading music using the internet and social media?
A It took me some time to get used to that, because I’m from the vinyl generation. But social media gives people from all over the world the chance to listen to your music. I now see that it’s a good thing to even give away a track for free. 5 years ago that was out of the question!
A I really stick to the basics, the cdj 2000 already has many possibilities to do different stuff with your tracks. So controllers, laptops and other stuff is not for me. But I can really enjoy it when another dj uses them well!
Q How important is your connection to the audience when you perform? Do you notice a difference in this connection when you perform live or as a DJ?
A It’s the most important thing for me. A DJ has only 1 job, that’s entertaining the crowd.
You can change your dj set anytime you want, to play something else when they don’t dig a track or a style of music. But with a live set it’s more difficult, because you have to prepare it, so you really have to create something that’s interesting for the entire time, and contains everything to keep the people entertained. I like that challenge.
Q You’ve been involved with electronic music for quite a while now. Do you have any particular achievements or peak moments that really pop out from the rest?
A I think my biggest achievement is to be among the biggest in both the underground harddance scene and the commercial scene. Playing at all parties with highlights like Qlimax, Hardbass, Reverze, Defqon1, Decibel etc. And my succes with Jeckyll & Hyde on the more commercial side of music. No matter what people say about dj’s going commercial and all, it’s an amazing feeling to be Nr 1 in the national charts of you own country.
Q For the coming years, what are the things that keep you motivated to make new music?
Do you have any projects or ideas that you’re really excited about?
A Not really big plans, but I really just like to release my music and maybe do some other stuff on the side, like ghost producing or making tracks in other styles.
Q What are the first thoughts that come to your mind when you hear the word “Belgium”?
A My second home! I love Belgium, I have many good friends there and it’s always a great pleasure to be in Belgium, very nice people, amazing clubs and crowds.
Q What can we expect from your set at Cherrymoon?
A I will try to throw all of the old tracks into my live set, and I’m even producing some new NP style stuff especially for Q-IC’s Birthday Bash! See you there!

MEYER LANSKY
Meyer Lasnky recently signed on Fanatix and is one of the most promising upcoming talents in the scene. With his forthcoming album on Fanatix and very strong recent releases, it is time to introduce this artist and learn to know him a bit better! Make sure you check him out at Q-ic’s birthday bash, the 2nd of February 2013 in Cherrymoon!
http://www.facebook.com/events/458479167546046/
Q Your first album album is coming out in early 2013. What can we expect?
AYes, I am very pleased to have the opportunity to release this album on Fanatix. It’s influenced by several styles suck as hardtech, techno, french tek, … It’s quite varied, very representative of my style and it also contains a few collaborations (Neck & Loy Klang).
Anyway, it’s heavy and it’s party!
Q Every year, there are new labels and new ways of spreading music.
How do you feel about spreading music using the internet and social media?
A I love the fact that it is very easy and quick to share your music with the rest of the world, but I think I’m not enough represented on the internet… Someone should take care of that for me
For labels, it is always interesting to hear new sounds and new artists from different backgrounds.
Q How important is your connection to the audience when you perform?
A I love it when the public reacts and becomes crazy when that appreciate my mix.
If there is no interaction, it feels cold and in my opinion, the set does not have much intrest.
Q What would you like to achieve with your music and what are your goals for 2013?
A I hope to play at more parties and events but also make productions in collaboration with DJ’s I like.
Q Do you have any projects or ideas that you’re really excited about?
A I have a photo shoot scheduled with Jeremy Marchant, I would like to release an album with my tracks remixed by various international artists and I urgently need a good website. Work in progress!
Q What can we expect from your set at Cherrymoon?
A It depends on the time when I'm playing but I will certainly play the tracks from my forthcoming album and I also love the mix different styles. In all cases I will try to honor other guests DJ’s, the public, our host Q-ic and this mythical club: Cherry Moon.
We’ll make this event unforgettable! Happy birthday Q-ic!

NULL FORGE
Null Forge is one of those German DJ’s who dares to think beyond the boundaries. He loves to mix different genres and is always good for a surprise. Null Forge brings you stompin squeaky music, hard techno, brighton and industrial hardcore. He will put a spell on you with his ultimate set at Q-ic’s birthday bash, the 2nd of February 2013 at Cherrymoon!
Q Recently you signed at Leveltrauma, one of the most important East-German techno labels and agencies. You released your music on labels such as Killaz, Fanatix and Ego Plastix. Do you have any projects or ideas that you’re really excited about?
A Yes! I have a lot of ideas and projects running, but my biggest enemy is time. I’m planning a remix EP with some big names of the hard techno and brighton scene, but more I can’t tell you at this moment. Although... I have some co-operations in mind for making tracks together with some of my friends like Minupren, Stephan Strube or Bang Bang Servo. Another plan is remixing tracks of some mates. That’s one of those things I really like a lot. In past I did some remixes for Minupren and Q-ic.
Q Techno music has changed a lot in the past 20 years. What are your views on the current state of techno and how do you see the genre progressing?
A That’s a difficult question. In every scene, and we as people, are still in progress and we change our point of view and our taste of what we like. I hear electronic music since I’m 9 years old. With my first thunderdome cd (laugh).Music has become much more versatile. On the one hand I like the new techno sound with many influences from all the music genres like rock and hip hop for example.
On the other hand, I love classic tracks, like ‘New order’ or tracks from ‘Vitalic’ and ‘Speedy J’, they are a big part of my sets. I think music is still in progress and there will always be some artists who interpret music in another new way. By the way ... WTF ... I´m becoming aware that I´m listening to techno since 20 years... I´m getting old (laugh)
Q Every year, there are new labels and new ways of spreading music.
How do you feel about spreading music using the internet and social media?
A That’s a very interesting question which I discuss regularly with my DJ mates. It’s ambivalent, because u have a platform to reach more people than in the past. But the negative thing is that some idiots who think they are superstars with music like shit. They get a fan base with the social media. But that’s more a problem of the crowd. If they don’t hear which music is good and which is shitty
Maybe the drugs are much better in the 21th century and the people don´t matter anymore haha, I don’t know
Q DJ gear evolved a lot over the years. Most DJ’s nowadays are using laptops or USB drives to carry and play their music. CD players and mixers are more complex than ever and artists like to add controllers to give their set a very personal touch. Have there been specific ideas or techniques that really opened up new creative possibilities for you?
A Not really. I´m a little bit oldschool in such things. I still have a SNES and N64 from Nintendo and I love to play vinyl and MP3. In the last few years I play much more MP3’s, because I love my vinyls and don’t want to damage them on my gigs. Every DJ knows the situation when your beloved vinyl gets a little scratch on it f.....ck!
Q How important is your connection to the audience when you perform? Do you notice a difference in this connection when you perform live or as a DJ?
A Very important! That’s the reason why I perform as a DJ. To make the people happy and dance, so they scream if you play “that one track“. I come from the dance floor. First I went to raves, then I started making music. So I don’t care if 10 people or 1000 dance to my music. The main thing is the vibe I feel in this moment when I perform. The people see that I love my passion. And most of the time I party more than some other on the dance floor... hahaha
Q Do you have any particular achievements or peak moments that really pop out from the rest?
A hmmm… capture global dominance. Running naked through a club while performing… and cookies. The normal things I think.
Q For the coming years, what are the things that keep you motivated to make new music?
A People who love my music !
Q What are the first thoughts that come to your mind when you hear the word “Belgium”?
A Belgians ?! (laugh)
Q What can we expect from your set at Cherrymoon?
AHard squeaky stomping techno... from a really crazy guy with a big heart! and cookies… muahaha
