Op zaterdag 11 december biedt Play in samenwerking met Catwalk een sensationele line-up: de top-dj's Ray Okpara (Oslo/Remote Area) en tINI (Desolat) uit Duitsland naast Play residents Sander Baan en EL-P. Het party-concept Play is op 1 oktober van start gegaan met een legendarische set van Steve Bug in de uitverkochte Rotterdamse Catwalk. 3

Percussions, drifty hypnotic beats, a touch of soul and marvellously deep......... house is a feeling and Ray Okpara has his finger firmly on the pulse, leading the way. Whilst his own roots are in Nigeria, it is actually Mannheim, Germany that Ray has helped put on the electronic music map, with a string of stellar productions on hot labels like, Oslo, Get Physical and Area Remote and an indomitable DJ style that has seen him rock out the world's great modern clubbing arenas.
With Ray's distinctive style, it's no surprise to learn that his early influences were hip-hop, funk and soul before the nightlife escapades of he and long-time friend Johnny D truly awoke his strong interest in electronic music. Impressed by the many different genres, the first attempt on the turntables was actually using Johnny's UK Garage Records. But the passion was sparked and Ray and Johnny began their own party, RAJO, which was hugely popular throughout the Rhein Necker Delta.
Another friend, Nick Curly, joined RAJO in 2001 and 'The Loft' residency began in Mannheim, where the first seeds of something monumental were unwittingly being sown. The Mannheim influence, and the time Ray has spent living there, is tangible; during these years the technical elements of Ray's sets developed and the groove began to take shape, thankfully encompassing all the early influences like soul and funk.
Berlin was calling in 2005 and beginning 4 years living in the city, Ray really started to blossom musically. The heralded DJ performances were soon accompanied by productions, such as remixes for Johnny D on Oslo and 8-bit or the Italoboyz on Get Physical. His first EP, 'Fumnaya' on Lomidhigh Lmtd and releases like 'Frozen on Yellow Ice' (Arearemote) and 'Loving Moonbuah' (Drumpoet Community) were instrumental in Mannheim's explosion in 2008.
On returning to Mannheim in 2009, his Brothers EP (Oslo) was a permanent fixture in clubs across the world in in the first half of the year and is one of the 2009's most charted tracks on Resident Advisor. On the brink of beginning his live act in 2010, two further EPs, 'Brainows' on Soweso and 'Tru Crowd' back on Area Remote put Ray Okpara on the front foot going into a new decade of continued house grooves and more good times.
A crowd teaser and crowd pleaser, constantly rocking it with music to make you smile and lose yourself in the moment, Ray Okpara is coming to get you and there is no hiding place.

tINI // Desolat, Germany
It's been only a few years that tINI is playing in clubs, but she is already considered as one of Germany's most wanted newcomers. Her involvement with rhythms and beats started at the age of 7 when tINI, who is originally from Munich, began playing drums, hich finally led her to first production attempts on her brother´s Atari.
tINI's DJ adventures started with new romantics, later with grunge and underground hip hop up to rap. Firstly it was an experiment with hip hop and big beat, which brought her to first trials at the turntables. As her interest, knowledge and skills developed, her DJ style became more electronic when she stumbled upon Moodymann's "Amerika".
In summer 2003 tINI started playing frequently in clubs and events in and around Munich. 2004 she began touring through Europe, which led to her own nights and residencies -"tINI all night long"- at the Garden Club in Munich from 2005 until 2007.
As tINI and Loco Dice happened to meet several times, while performing at the same spots, her musical qualities were noticed and so she joined the Artist Alife and Desolat Family in 2008. This was a booster for her career as more and more clubs became aware of her talent. She took this chance and finally became a constant part of the worldwide Desolat Nights.
tINI, who is known for her curly hair and her powerful, vivid temper, knows intuitionally how to enchant the crowd whether during the warm-up or the main time.

Ray Okpara
Met zijn warme house-music - die wordt gekenmerkt door groove (dus warmte en melodie) en de loopy en cyclische sounds van techno - biedt Ray Okpara een aantrekkelijke uitweg voor diegenen die de ‘sTripped down' minimal wat beu werden. Trefwoorden zijn percussie, drijvende en hypnotiserende beats, een beetje soul en schitterend diep: house is a feeling en Ray Okpara heeft dat van nature in zijn vingers. Hij is een rasechte crowd teaser maar vooral een crowd pleaser, met muziek die je alles doet vergeten en waar je geheel in opgaat.
Het label Oslo Records, in 2007 in Mannheim opgericht door dj/producers Federico Molinari en Nekes, is verantwoordelijk voor een nieuw Duits technogeluid, dat meer housey en soulvol is dan de inmiddels ‘klassieke' minimal techno. Dit label heeft sindsdien niet alleen een paar ware techhouse-klappers uitgebracht, maar ook een aantal nieuwe namen ten tonele gebracht zoals Johnny D, Sascha Dive en niet in de laatste plaats Ray Okpara. Deze new breed uit de Mannheim-Frankfurt scene focust zich louter op de dansvloer. Binnen no time zijn ze stuk voor stuk headliners geworden. Zo is Oslo Records in amper drie jaar tijd één van de meest besproken house- en technolabels van dit moment geworden.
Oslo is één grote familie van goede vrienden van Ray Okpara die elkaar al jaren kennen: Johnny D, Christian Burkhardt, Damian Schwartz, Vera, Miss Fitz, Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts en natuurlijk ook Federico Molinari. Ray Okpara is regelmatig aan het werk te zien op Frankfurt's invloedrijke parties als TDK Time Warp en Milk Club.
Tini
Deze getalenteerde dame is net als haar collega's Loco Dice en Martin Buttrich verbonden aan het Desolat label. In oktober van dit jaar werd Tini speciaal uit Ibiza overgevlogen voor een dj-set in de grote zaal van de Westerunie tijdens het Amsterdam Dance Event. Over haar optreden staat in het toonaangevende magazine DJ Broadcast (DJB) een veelzeggend commentaar dat ongeveer als volgt luidt:
Als het nog vroeg in de avond is en de zaal nog dunbevolkt, begint Tini de warming-up met vage tech-house plaatjes, waarop de aanwezigen vrolijk rondhobbelen. Maar gaandeweg trakteert de blonde Spaanse chick haar publiek op steeds stevigere platen. Ze heeft een energieke en eigenzinnige manier van op de maat hoppen. Haar krullen vliegen alle kanten op na iedere basinval en zodra het publiek begint te joelen verschijnt er een brede grijns op haar gezicht. Ze doorspekt haar set met überdiepe bassen, die ze stiekem af en toe wegdraait voor kleine opbouwende climaxen.
Na die avond heeft ze er zo te zien in ieder geval genoeg nieuwe fans bij, aldus DJB, dat zich daarbij afvraagt waarom sommige dj's voor eeuwig geliefd blijven en anderen niet. Het antwoord luidt: 'omdat de echt succesvolle dj's zorgen voor complete interactie met hun publiek.

zo aan je feestarchief te zien moet je gewoon komen. muziek is deep tech house....tini is protege van loco dice....ray okpara bekende producer...catwalk is niet groot nee maar wel super gezellig, staat bekend om zijn underground sfeer...
