Your parents were music people, what do they make of what you're doing now?
They love it, my Mum is like my biggest stalker fan, I was talking to her the other day and she was like "have you been sleeping?" and she loves playing jokes on me. This one time after a Berlin winter, I was real pale and she was like "you know you look really pale, maybe you should stop taking so many Es and get out of the studio sometime" and I was like "OUCH, MAM" *pretends like he's been kicked in stomach*.
Describe for the folks at home, your current facial hair set up and hair style?
I've got this really funny moustache at the moment....
Looks like you're going for the Weatherall?
Ha yeah, you know I really like this time period, you know Rockabilly, well maybe more Beat Happening or Marine Girls, kind of Twin Peaks vibe with a 50s buttoned up shirt......so I'm going for an old school dolly moustache. My Dad told me I'd never have a moustache and now I'm like *does sarcastic voice and waves hands about* "oh yeah, who's got the moustache now!!"
And your hair?
I've cut the side of my hair, I was really stoned and my head was so hot, so I cut the sides of my hair.
It's like Kid n Play but with dreadlocks....
It's like a 50s James Dean afro, that's the best I can do.
The older I get the more I feel like I wanna help people out. I have like these two life rules, one is be generally polite to people and the other, two actually, are to give more than you take and the last rule is "why not?".
Why not help and give and why shouldn't I get to the beach and the whole giving thing, it's like with Nicolas Jaar, beautiful kid making amazing music and everywhere I go I'm like help this kid out. If you can help anyone with anything, like 10 minutes out of your day to send an email and it could change someone's life.
So many people have done that for me, I want to do it for others, I get so much more enjoyment out of being that way. Like with DC10, it's cool they've given me the opportunity to be resident but they were like who else do you want to play, so I'm able to get a night with my friends. Especially if you're in a position to help out, if you've got extra time or ability to help people, then do it and then you're happier, cool.......fresh!!
