During Beyond the Beat, we’ll dive in and dig deep into hip-hop culture in its broadest sense. From dance & music to sharing knowledge. Beyond the Beat will leave you with a greater understanding, appreciation and love for the culture!
We’ve been going through it since last year, not only did we get hit by a pandemic, we were also part of worldwide protests against police brutality and systemic racism. Pain and joy were sometimes close together not only in these protests.
This year at Beyond the Beat, we zoom in on black joy as a form of resistance and anger as fuel. Making the connection between anger, violence and the role that black joy plays in the healing process. A lineup in image and sound that zooms in on the black diaspora, the celebration of black culture and a renewed urgency for social change in the midst of a pandemic.
