FTWR SPECIAL: Luke Slater presents: The 7th Plain
Luke Slater is one of techno’s most innovating enigmas - shifting through the variants of the genre throughout his expansive career of over 25 years.
One of Slater’s most feted aliases, The 7th Plain came into its own in the afterglow of the mid 90’s. In a period of going as far out in all directions as possible, Slater’s Ambient Techno albums like The 4 Cornered Room and My Yellow Wise Rug were certainly about exploring the deep space of the imagination.
More recently, Ostgut Ton’s sublabel A-Ton released Chronicles I-III, a three volume special vinyl edition with previously released material and unreleased future classics compiled for eternity.
Cosmic and orchestrated, The 7th Plain releases still represent some of the most emotionally intense music ever to come out of the techno realm. Whether built on percussive frameworks or sweeping nebulas of dissipated sound, Slater’s synthesizers sing space-travelers’ tales, compellingly and beautifully.
Now in the ugliness of a pandemic, Slater has rejuvenated his dreamy planetarium fantasies. During the lockdown the hopeful idea arose to create a new multi-disciplinary The 7th Plain performance, and in alliance with two talented modern dancers from Berlin, a long cherished wish for Slater comes true
This show is organised according to the national guidelines and will be a seated show until further notice.
