Polly F (residence SPIELRAUM)
Irakli (residence STAUB)
STAUB
Pure psychic organism covering surfaces, made of dry dirt, small pieces of soil, sand, or other substances. Project started in Berlin in 2013 coming now for the first time to Kolumbia.
STAUB is based on the belief that a certain form of techno is neglected. It is convicted in the omnipotence of the music, and the disinterested play of an artist. It does not lead to the destruction of another party mechanism nor to its substitution, but it can be a solution for the principal problems of life. It does not matter whether you are a newcomer or Lady Gaga, what matters is the quality of the music!
Emika
Producer Emika is an Anglo-Czech talent who was classically trained in her youth, later discovering the limitless world of electronic composition that would provide the yin to her formative yang. She launched Emika Records in 2014 in search of freedom..
Bringing bold new tendencies to a world of avant-garde classicism, popular song and contemporary electronic minimalism, the Berlin-based Emika has, since the turn of the decade, transposed perceived notions of music on its head. Of-late, her patrician approach to the time-honoured sounds of orchestral music has caught up with her evolutionary style of bassy, Trip Hop and Melancholic Pop, underpinned by the glitched, steeping design of her academic yet abstract production techniques.
Her current live performance, furthermore, has seen Emika reconceptualise the way she takes to the stage. Embarking on a new hybrid approach to song and sound manipulation, Emika now presents new live show with Israeli drummer and electronic percussionist Ran Levari. Exploiting new technologies in live vocal looping, sample triggering, sequential synthesis and live drums, it’s an advanced vision that is uniquely their own.
Having signed to Ninja Tune for her first two albums, Emika (2011) and Dva (2013), she established her own eponymous label in 2015 which, in a single year, released both her Drei and Klavírní long players. With her fifth studio album now upon us, Melanfonie, the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign that allowed her to work with the City Of Prague’s 50-piece Philharmonic Orchestra, Emika is once again breaking new ground for singer-songwriters, producers and performers alike.
Emika’s fifth full-length album Falling In Love With Sadness, co-produced with Robert Witschakowski of The Exaltics, will be out on Emika Records on World Mental Health Day the 10th of October 2018. A portion of proceeds will go to a UK-based mental health charity.
Irakli
Spending time with manipulating drones and hypnotizing people.
Originally from Georgia, Irakli’s early descent into the German capital has seen him corner and develop a side of the local scene and turn it into something of an international fare. Five years ago he created STAUB, one of Berlin’s most celebrated techno parties. As a part of the production duo I/Y, he has been releasing music under the synonymous co-founded label. But most of all, Irakli’s craft behind the decks has been weighed upon by the likeliest of Berlin’s underground venues, namely Tresor, Berghain and Griessmuehle, with his vision of electronic music taken further afield in Europe, and the Americas. In 2017 he founded the Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound with artists like Stanislav Tolkachev, Natalie Beridze, Rezo Glonti and many others.
Irakli also heads up a burgeoning convey diving into exploratory concepts of ambient, hued by the tones and colors of his homeland, Georgia. Adding orchestral collaborations and sound installations to a field of work outside of the club, Irakli’s expanding platforms and industrious connection to Berlin has seen his entry point into the scene now serve as an outlet into the more abstract, experimental realms of techno. With new endeavors afoot and a creative repertoire to boot, Irakli’s DJ sets, labels and parties always display unique qualities. It does not matter whether he is exploring beatless soundscapes or high energy techno music, Irakli always manages to create something special.
