Voodoom is a new project of Bong-Ra and Deformer featuring Scapu-Lox on vocals. Dark Ritualistic Breakbeat Jungle. Inspired by early 90’s UK Jungle and Darkstep mixed with the clear trademark sound of these two established producers. The Surinam [a community strongly present in Rotterdam] lyrics by Scapu Lox, are completely unique to this genre. After theire brain-crushing debut Album „Rituals“ that came out last year they are already sitting in the studio again to set a new chapter of dark magic.

DeformerDeformer / MC Mike Redman – from Rotterdam City, pushes musical boundaries since the early 90’s as one of the frontrunners of Dutch Jungle music. Their sound fuses different genres into a venomous blend of electronic mayhem, from Breakcore to any core possible it seems. Deformer has collaborated with Rap giants Public Enemy, with 6blocc and Bong-Ra, killed renowned festivals like Lowlands and served the international underground scene along the way. They delivered street favorites like ‘The Possessor’, ‘Slasher’, ‘Meatcleaver’ and ‘Diabolical’ and created the sub-genre ‘Defcore’ where Hardcore Gabber and Dubstep meet. Deformer has a tight fan-base and influenced many artists throughout the years. They have just released their latest e.p. ‘Hybrid’ on PRSPCT Recordings.
For those who aren’t acquainted with Bong-Ra’s sound will be in for a pleasant surprise. As one of the pioneers of the Breakcore genre, Bong-Ra has managed to mix all his musical influences into a furiously energetic style. No remorse and no concession. Where other artists stick to their musical blueprint, Bong-Ra never stops the pursuit of musical development, hoping to catch his listeners off guard every single time. This is also resembeld in the variety of other musical projects he is into as for example: The Thing With Five Eyes, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble and Voodoom where he teams up with Mike Redman aka Deformer.
For years Utrecht based DJ collective Drop! organized -now legendary- parties at dB’s. The Drop! squad moved on to other venues but still has a soft spot for dB’s. A perfect ending to an abrasive night of Break All Junglist Core. Happy to have them back!
