On Friday, June 19th, Bird Rotterdam will open its doors to a new edition of Liberation. This time the evening theme will be "Glow In The Dark '. Jet van Dijk will be surprising visitors with her creations for free with luminous makeup.
This edition will again provide an impressive international programming. Big names like Djeff Afrozila (Angola) and Shimza (South Africa) are the eye-catchers. The African music movement has grown tremendously in the past year, which is reflected in the gigs, including Black Coffee, Culoe Song, Djeff Afrozila, Boddhi Satva and more giants. All of these have now turned at Liberation. The sound is now being picked up by the well-known Boiler Room.

The last time Djeff Afrozila performed at Liberation was on August 29, 2014 and it was a huge success. This artist needs no introduction, but for the new Liberators we will summarize briefly on why you should not miss the set of Djeff. This cheerful artist has realeased many productions with the major labels in the scene. His album Soldier Ascension did him very well and got him gigs on Southport Weekender, Sunce Beat and many other great concepts worldwide. As if Djeff was not enough, we have Shimza coming from South Africa. The rising star of Soulistic Music is described as one of the youngest and most talented DJ's from South Africa. Shimza has an unprecedented technique, he mixes all kinds of African House in harmony with each other.
No one will be unaware that Bird recently has been expanded with a second area. Which also came with a pizza oven. Yeah, on the 19th of June we will also sell pizza slices! It should also be no secret that Liberation has experienced significant growth. This edition will also have, for the first time, a second area to speak to a wider audience.
Liberation is as usual always looking for new trends musically. The company currently has been dealing with very interesting times with the emergence of an increasingly strong "European" variant of the African sound. From 23:00 till 02:00 during the Liberation edition there will be a Kizomba stage, where a workshop will be given by the famous Berthon & Yuna. Then the room will be turned up and none other than Rancido (Inner Visions) will showcase his musical qualities.
The first area on June 19th will showcase a real African experience with African make-up and all kinds of African products. Because of the presence of different area's, their will be a true festival feel which will make the experience even more intense.

Op vrijdag 19 juni zal Bird Rotterdam haar deuren weer openen voor een nieuwe editie van Liberation. Ditmaal draagt de avond het ‘Glow In The Dark’ thema. Hierbij zal Jet van Dijk welwillende bezoekers met haar creaties gratis voorzien van een lichtgevende schmink.
Ook dit keer is er weer gezorgd voor een indrukwekkende internationale programmering. Grote namen als Djeff Afrozila (Angola) en Shimza (Zuid Afrika) springen hierbij het meest in het oog. De Afrikaanse muziekstroming is enorm gegroeid het afgelopen jaar, dat is terug te zien in de gigs van oa Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Djeff Afrozila, Boddhi Satva en meer giganten die inmiddels allemaal bij Liberation hebben gedraaid. De sound wordt bovendien opgepakt door het welbekende Boiler Room.
De afgelopen keer dat Djeff Afrozila bij Liberation stond op 29 augustus 2014 was een enorm succes. In principe heeft deze artiest geen introductie meer nodig, maar voor de nieuwe Liberators sommen wij in het kort op waarom je de set Djeff niet mag missen. Deze goedlachse artiest heeft de afgelopen vele producties uitgebracht op alle grote labels binnen de scene. Zijn album Soldier Ascension heeft hem geen windeieren gelegd en gigs opgeleverd op Southport Weekender, Sunce Beat en allerlei andere geweldige concepten wereldwijd. Alsof Djeff nog niet genoeg was hebben wij hiernaast de uit Zuid-Afrika afkomstige Shimza geboekt. De rijzende ster van Soulistic Music wordt omgeschreven als een van de jongste en meest talentvolle DJ’s uit Zuid-Afrika. Shimza heeft een ongekende techniek, op verbazingwekkende wijze mixt hij alle soorten Afrikaanse House in harmonie door elkaar heen.
Het zal niemand zijn ontgaan dat Bird de afgelopen periode is uitgebreid met een tweede boog. Waarbij tevens een pizza oven bij gekomen is. Ja, we gaan op 19 juni ook pizza punten verkopen! Het mag ook geen geheim zijn dat Liberation ook een flinke groei heeft doorgemaakt. Tijdens deze editie zal er dan ook voor het eerst een tweede zaal geopend zijn om een breder publiek aan te spreken.
Liberation is zoals gebruikelijk altijd op zoek naar nieuwe trends en stromingen op muzikaal gebied. Het zijn momenteel dan ook zeer interessante tijden met de opkomst van een steeds sterker wordende ‘Europese’ variant van de Afro sound. Van 23:00 tot 02:00 is tijdens deze Liberation-editie een Kizomba stage, waar een workshop door de bekende Berthon & Yuna kan worden gevolgd.
