Akiko Kiyama (Sleep is Commercial, Berlin)
William Köster (New Dutch School, Arnhem)
Normano (New Dutch School, Amsterdam)
Roy Habets (Linke Soto)
As we are slowly crawling our way back into the clubnight season we’ve been searching for an artist that could set the tone for the upcoming events. Well respected artists that always stayed true to themselves and had big recognition by well known artists throughout the landscape of electronic music.
Japanese, Tokyo born Akiko Kiyama has been a prominent figure on the minimal techno scene since her first released productions in 2004. The first female minimal tech producer to have come out of Japan now lives and works from Berlin, Germany.
Akiko’s sound is a complex pattern of sounds. Raw and industrial, dark and moody, her signature sits firmly within the minimal style, but with a melodic structure that gives shape and structure. It’s rare that a sound so minimal results in something so engrossing, something that sucks you in and keeps you listening intently on what’s going to happen next. Akiko’s tracks feel like stories, captivatingly told through her experimentation with sound.
Next to Akiko we’re looking for artists that represent a similar style in musical approach. If you think you’ll understand what it takes to stand in front of a demanding crowd please submit your demo to info@newdutchschool.com
William Köster will end the night with his well recognized technohouse sound. This afterparty specialist will introduce you with his perfect eye for finding the right tracks to get you into the groove. His last DJ set is still downloadable on his Soundcloud page.
Literally and figuratively Normano hasn’t lost his wild hair. Updating oldschool house vibes with contemporary sonics and a wriggle percussive touch, he shines as an entertainer with a clear talent for combining ideas from other artists with his own distinct musical vision. With greasy bass lines and funky rhythms, he creates an atmosphere in which standing still is impossible.
Roy Habets, part of the southern based Linke Soto collective, has been crawling in the Dutch underground for some time now. Digging through records every moment of the day, he has explored techno's depths in every sense of the word. Since one and a half years Roy is working on Obscure Times, a project focusing on faceless techno to give it an expression through music and abstract visuals.
Past editions were all sold out so we suggest you get your tickets in presale.
