Raves take place largely in post-industrial landscapes, transforming rundown warehouse sites and open areas into timeless, de-localised and de-realised spaces, where obsolete infrastructure is introduced to state of the art technology to create a surreal, almost virtual world—a fun factory. In this environment, dancing becomes an exciting new form of work—the sweating body on the dance floor, symbiotically moving to the rhythm of the drumkick rolling out of the speakers.
