Yeah! And suddenly it's all in english too! Cool to see aof/traxtorm to give some more info about their standingpoints.

Allthough it does not make up for the crappy shit they pulled with the mad dog album!

Believe me... The passion is still there and i know i can make a decent track, but it's still the quality that nails me. And then you should know that after listening your brand new track a couple of times, you become a bit of tone-deaf ( I got that every time ) and all you hear is a good track and you can't lay your finger on the faulty spots, if you know what i mean.

If you write an article it's the same thing. You can check, doublecheck, triplecheck, etc it but at a certain point your perception capacity becomes saturated and you just read over the faults instead of noticing them. And if you have a deadline you just can't leave it for a while until your mind is fresh again...

Interesting dicussion indeed. And nice to see the explanation of CristianAoF. It makes the choices indeed more understandable. Although not everything may be agreed upon by the reader/recipient.
As a musiclover (and just a 'consumer' instead of a (bedroom)DJ or producer) I was also dissapointed with the way the Mad Dog album is. The album is not so bad to listen to, but I'd rather have had the full length tracks to listen to (or at least album versions - not really full length but with a 'normal' intro/outro). The way it is now it feels more like a mixtape to me than an album from an artist. But I know now that I have to wait for the full length tracks.
I still have the AoF/MT album on my mp3-player (and the 2CD release in my CD-rack) and I still enjoy listening to it. Perhaps I am just one of the 'Mohicans' who actually buys a CD when her or she likes it or the artist. ;) I like to have something physical with a booklet with artwork etc, not just only a CD-R.

Well we can see that the musicscene is now adapting to the new situation with the internet where copies can spread very fast. That has 2 sides: music can really spread worldwide and new markets can be opened. But selling music gets harder when 'free' copies can be obtained very easily. The focus is changing now from selling music to increasing revenues from bookings/concerts and selling merchandise.
In February Markus Schulz was interviewed for the Veronica Magazine (a tv-mag with also articles about music, artists, cars, games and the comic Dirk-Jan ;)) and I find this quote exemplaric for the developments: "Previously you did a tour to promote your album. Nowadays you make an album to promote your tour. That's a whole different approach to making music."
(the quote in Dutch (as it appeared in the magazine): "Vroeger deed je een tour om je album te promoten. Tegenwoordig maak je een album om je tour te promoten. Dat is een heel andere benadering van muziek maken.")

Thanks for the explanation Cristian. It makes a lot more sense now!
Waiting for a long time for a release can be hard sometimes, but it also keeps you excited about it. You really can't wait to play it and if you wanna hear it on a party, you'll have to go to a party with a Traxtorm artist. That's also good for the artists and the label.

TTM is now releasing in high tempo since they stopped releasing vinyls.

Yes, but they were already releasing their vinyls at least 3 times faster then Enzyme did, but the mastering was for both labels about the same, even with a higher rate of release. I'm glad the Traxtorm speed with releasing went up, and also TTM's, but the TTM one was already pretty high, so I wonder why a great quality label like Enzyme is relatively slow, even for a label that still releases a vinyl with every EP.

Thnx btw Cristian for the answers;)

Could be to keep it exclusive so people will notice their releases more. Quality over quantity.

Thought of that too, but if you read a message of Nosferatu about a year ago (if not more) that he's got 6 solo's, 8 coops (with Dana for example) and 5 remixes or something like that coming up you're going to question the release rate, because it looks some of these songs are about 3/4 years old when they will be firstly played:(

Isn't everybody doing that already now? We just made this public. Why wasting that big promotion during this time? Better use it for our own advantage! I think it's better to listen to crappy iphone videos recorded at the party or a 128kbit version uploaded by the label itself? What's the difference? With this method you're 100% that that track you listened to that party will be released on that record on that day. Which is 4 months later :)

yes,and luckily in my opinion is much better.. this really make interest in the people... a track after 4 months from his announce has a BIG loss of interest.. for example take the case of the last Neophyte rec. release from The Viper... they announced the release of that e.p.,one day before the release or the same day that it came out on junodownload.. probably the tracks were finished a while ago (but not so much, because i remember that just before the beginning of april,Korsakoff on her twitter said that the rmx of Let it bump was just finished) but they haven't been announced before... 2 tracks from that e.p. were on the Black compilation, but that compilation was released few time before..

in this way, there are 3 tracks that are completely brand new for the people.. this is the way i like!

That's true, IF hardcore wouldn't be so subjective to time influences. They unfortunatelly are, so you hear it when a track is a bigger time back produced, and the crowd unfortunatelly won't accept that. We do, but not everyone is so open to music and such critic.

I understand this development, when about 90% of the listeners isn't paying for your music, and you want to give 100% for this music, you have to come up with ways to promote yourself. Mainframe did it previously with a label wich releases are all free to be downloaded, and you make your music exclusive for your own artists.

Well, I'm just waiting 'till more and more good tracks arrive. In my opnion it's still far too shallow, all that what's released. We need more passion, atmosphere and good quality kicks in the tracks. Each tracks has to stand for itself, not just a copy of a copy. Only then the Hardcore scene can survive, 'cause if there's one thing obvious, it's that the scene in Holland is going backwards way too fast at the moment.

Okay, the scenes in foreign countries are expanding right now, but a good bastion in Holland is much too important.

So, we can all talk about money/income that comes to existance from record releases, but without gigs most of the artist will be behind the counter of Jumbo, Albert Heijn or other stores. :)

... and then, at the end... there'll be about zero new releases...

Just my opnion... :P

True that, exactly my thoughts about the hardcore nowadays.

I also think hardcore listeners are more difficult than the listeners in other genres. Everything has been done, and of course the largest number of people like the mainstream how it is, but it's us, the people who really know their music and love different sounding hardcore, who give feedback to the artists.

I think it's kinda odd you are still struggling with this

I got a 40 hr job so i make music during the evening and weekends. With that, i practically never got any help with it ( only 1 or 2 times ) and as a producer without much time, i need at least 1 release in a year or the booking-rate will go downwards.

Exactly. I tried to learn cubase a year ago. Even paid for some lessons, but due the lack of time. I'm just an inch further then a year ago. It takes so much time. But we can't just give up our work (our income) and go for the music. Cause if it fails, your as good as broken :).
