Why aren't there more forest in Netherlands?

Anywhere in northern Spain there are large forests, and it also have oceanic climate like Netherlands.
Even in southern Spain, climate is clearly much drier than Netherlands, but there are large forests too.

When I travelled from Amsterdam to Mistery Land, I only saw a few trees.

On the other side, between the ML-area and Amsterdam there's something like an airport, trees + airport = problem?!

In the past the most of the Netherlands consisted out of forrest.

No, it's not a problem, while the trees aren't located just next to runways.

Around Madrid-Barajas airport there are something like some small forests, but most of them contain small trees, like holm oaks or pines, which are quite common here, due to our rare continental-mediterranean mixed climate.

On the other hand, most of trees in Nehterlands must be deciduous forests, according to your climate features.
Of course, deciduous forests is much higher than mediterranean forests.

i rode the white bikes around the park last time i was there. nice and relaxing ride through the forest. could smell the cut pine as i rode past the loggers.
