Louk - My Year In Hard Dance
What's been your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting my label Compulzion up and running and having some amazing artists on board! Gig wise as well I've finally played internationally with some amazing bookings at Q-Base & Defqon 1 Festivals and Tunnel Records 16th Birthday, as well as some gigs in Scotland and Ireland.
What moments will you never forget?
Fiiiiinally finishing uni, setting my label up and having a blast this year with a load of amazing friends and seeing new places I had never seen before!
Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?
Internationally there are loads of good artists, Nomad, Charly + Nazzz, Jim Justice, Geck-O Riino and dB Shredaz/Shinobi are delivering quality stuff! Also he's a good mate of mine but I've been caining productions by Busho. Same with Brian Eddie, he is taking elements from techno, trance, house and harder stuff and fusing them all together and his production quality is supreme! There's a whole bunch of us from Plymouth who are really up and coming and delivering some quality material. Joe-E, Esh, Callum B, Matt Watering, Mike Steventon, Loki, Pete Kingwell. And further afield a couple of new boys called S.F.M, Shock Force and Adam Meadows have impressed me too!
Who's been the artist of the year for you?
I can never name just one haha there's been loads but I've been caining the hell out of Wragg + Log One, Fausto, DJ Thera, Tommy Pulse, Sixth Sense, FJ Project, A*S*Y*S, Kamui, A Paul...ahhh to pick one is impossible!
What's been your favourite label of the year?
Theracords, Atmosphere, Naked Lunch, Sound Attack, Straight On Black, Nero, Armatura, Codeworks, Expand Digital. Oh and check the bias here but Compulzion, Benefactor and Hindsight too!
What do you think has been the best track of the year?
Andrea Montorsi - Rhythm Of House, Iain Cross - Sexy Beast, Tommy Pulse - The Messiah and for techno I have been hammering this track called 'Psonics' on Naked Lunch.
What's been your favourite event of the year?
I was well impressed with Fantasylands in Scotland but gig wise easily Q-Base and Defqon 1!
What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?
Spent the whole year pretty much laughing at things, but managing to lose a shoe in Portsmouth was probably one of the most amusing.
What do you have planned for the next year?
Well I'm going to be playing in Australia in February which I am ecstatic about, have loads of time now I've graduated from Uni and will just be another chaotic year of travelling and having fun and making tunes!
