Ben Sims & Surgeon (Frequency 7)
Naam: Ben Sims & Anthony Child
Biografie:
A soundclash of styles from two mixmasters, Ben Sims Vs Surgeon.
Both undisputed leaders in their chosen musical disciplines, now performing together to create something truly fresh!
They create a uniquely improvised experience from:
-Combining elements of techno, funk, dub, house, hip hop, disco, Industrial etc.
-Utilizing turntables, CD decks, FX and all the latest Hardware/ Software technology.
Taking its name from the highly influential track Frequency 7 by 80´s electro pop outfit 'Visage', a futuristic electronic funk classic that was an inspiration for producers on both sides of the Atlantic, the project has been road tested in a series of secret gigs and audiences knew that they were at the birth of something special.
A witness was heard to say, "This is the greatest thing that ever happened to me."
To give you a better idea of what this new project is about pls see these impressions given by the clubs who hosted a couple of first secret Frequency 7 shows:
"The buzz leading up to the event was tremendous, people were talking to each other about what they each expected from the performance, no-one however could have foreseen what was to take place. The crowd was treated to 4 hours of both Detroit styled Techno tangled with Surgeon's broken up twist on electronic music. Four hours went by in the blink of an eye with bodies being taken on a journey Through proper electronic music with soul. This certainly kept everyone dancing into the night and even right through the week."
"this was a killer cocktail of styles with sims and surgeon serving up a wicked blending between analogue and digital and rocking the walls of electric city's 3rd party.
there was a great sense of energy transfer between the two guys that really worked the crowd."
Over the past 2 years, Surgeon and Ben Sims, both recognised masters in the artform of mixing, have been working hard on the Frequency 7 project, From it's humble beginnings at studio practice sessions and secret gigs, on to shows at clubs and festivals where the pair felt happy to try something new and experiment, embrace their individual styles and techniques, yet creating something very different in the process.
The feedback and interest from crowds and promoters has been overwhelming so they now feel it's now time to really take it to the next level and really push the concept globally, with a string of high profile gigs this year and much talk of production collaborations, F7 is now the duo's main focus after their solo work and will no doubt continue to grow and evolve over the coming years.
