the accent of french girls who speak english is sexy :jaja:
french men speaking english is sexy, too. ;)

american girls speaking dutch, i like it, i like it a lot :D
dutch girls speaking french is not bad neither ;)
I always get embarassed when I speak a foreign language. I'm afraid that I'll sound too much like an idiot. Too many people think that if you don't speak a lanugage fluently, you must be stupid. (of course, these are usually the same people who have never tried to learn a different language, themselves.)
even if you can't speak a language very good, it's nice to try, i think it's very respectable.

It's funny when an American girl/guy, speaks dutch. An American friend of mine, who plays baseball here, says that dutch is backwards from english. That's what makes it soooo funny when he speaks dutch. I know it's not nice of me to laugh, but i just can't help it :)

I like Aussies english too :jaja:
I'm sure I told this story before, but...

When I came to the Netherlands, I tried my best Dutch on the people there. I was nervous, so I would start with "Spreek je Engels?" Most of the time, the person listening would chuckle and say, "ja, een beetje," and then help me in English.

In the few times that I attempted speaking Dutch while Jeroen was with me, he would immediately explain to whomever was hearing me how little Dutch I knew. I decided that this was because I must have been saying something in an offensive way. It was quite a frustrating experience. :/

Even with that said, I tend to be more patient with people who speak English as a second language. It cracks me up when people on these boards try to correct each other's English, when their own English is far from being perfect. Everyone should be given the benefit of a doubt when it comes to speaking a language.

We, here in the Netherlands learn english at first at the age of 10 or so. Almost everything on television is in english and signs of bars and...flyers, all written in english.
So you would expect that everyone should at least get around and is able to explain something in english.

But dutch is different. Someone once told me that dutch is even harder to learn then japenees (? don't know how to write that). There is no logic in our language.

I understand it that you find dutch hard, it is... :)

exactly

i really appreciate it when people try to speak dutch... But if i was English/American/French/Spanish, i wouldn't try to speak Dutch. Just because of the sound of the language...i don't like it to much. Don't get me wrong, i'm Dutch myself...But if you compare it to English or French, it just sounds so strange, specially the G ;).

that's what is fun :)
I can't do the G sound so well, although I have improved a lot. The ch/sch sound gives me similar issues.

I soooooooo jerk off on aussie accents!!! :kwijl:

Well, american accent is for sure nice, and even nicer than british english (overall)... But it's like everywhere, you happen to meet some people you won't understand, eg many texican people. That's kinda annoying haha

Allright, but it's got nothing to do with the american accent/english itself, than more with the american way to do things. They just don't know how to keep things simple. Everything has got to be gorgeous, and in every way better and bigger than other things. The Britains do it nearly the same ;)

I have one word for you: Brilliant! :P

The dutch people, on the other hand, tend to make everything smaller. It's never a cup, it's cupje.

No kidding. In the city where I live (a suburb of chicago), 40 percent is of hispanic descent. It makes me feel like an outsider in my own neighbourhood. :/

Yeah right, while growing up i learned different kinds of "properties", the english/american who want it bigger, the dutch who want it in a small/sweet way. The germans (where i live ;)) see in everything at first the worst part. Well, and the croatians (where i'm actually from) see all the things in life how they really are, because they have to...

In my opinion that's one of the biggest problems the us have... Not against them at all, but they tell the story of the poor and disadvantaged part of "american people". The government is quite against it (of course), but on the other hand it will never begin to stop it (i'm not talking about some Shaft-like sheriffs who begin to clean up  ) because every hispanic also brings a voice when it comes to elections, right ? :) But maybe that's going to far now, because partyflock isn't about politics

I prefer the Scottish accent

with the rolling "R"

When I was in Canada last year, they couldn't pronounce the rolling "R" and I could! They were laughing their asses off
the americans love my german accent :vaag:

(y) Good for you!

The yank accent's a bit of a joke, really. It lacks character or just has a stupid character... I dunno, but if you think about it... French speaking English is 'ilarious, the Italians speak with their hands, Russians just sound like mean bastards and so on.
I prefer any accent but american!!!

British is rather sexy ;-)
