Voor de mensen die nog steeds vastlopen op hun 45 min. Baron run
Dit heeft een guildie van me geplaatst op onze guildforums. Dus ik voel me niet verantwoordelijk als je het volgt en het gaat alsnog mis
45 min Baron guide
So you've got the quest Dead Man's Plea and you've heard how hard the 45 minute Baron run is (from people who haven't ever done it of course) and you are wondering just how hard... Well it is a challenge - but through good teamwork and a good first series of pulls it is very much a standard, doable run. You don't need to be buffed to the extreme and you don't need to be wearing epics (if you did what would be the point in upgrading your tier 0?).
I personally have done it successfully three times, some in the guild have done it four. I have also failed a few times, but this was down to either the class mix in the group (more on that below), bad initial pulls or both.
The pulls that work best are paladin pulls with Exorcism (ghouls, spiders, gargoyles etc) and priests Silence pulling the banshees (which silence your group) or Shackle pulling other mobs - where humanoids need to be killed get your main DPSer to pull. TS I think is vital to pull this run off as best as possible, you won't have time to type whose turn it is to pull/heal/fight!
Buffs - by all means get as many buffs as you like, but first time we had no buffs apart from regular priest/paladin spells and we did it in just under 44 minutes.
It is best to take two healers (priest and pala is ideal) who can alternate as main healer while the other gets their mana back. These two should wear as much mana regen gear as they can.
Best group setup seems to be priest, pala, two rogues and one random. There will be so much aggro being generated by your rogues that you don't really need a tank, the rogues will get all the aggro anyway and will need constant healing, while the pala can take mobs off the priest/other clothies. If you have two or three people who need the run and don't fit into this setup, GO ON SEPARATE RUNS.
The group must stay as tight as possible, if you are a hunter DO NOT RANGE, chances are you will back up into a group you skipped and wipe. If you are a clothie getting hit do not be tempted to use your usual survival tactic (running away) as you also will inevitably pull a group you missed out and wipe...
Looting - do it. Just combat loot as quickly as possible, never ML and need if you need. Yes it is quicker not to loot at all, but then Barta wouldn't have the epic ring Myrmidon's Signet if we hadn't looted on one run...
As a rough guide you need to be at the abominations within 30 minutes, giving you approximately 10 minutes to reach and down each of the three sub-bosses. Quickest we cleared the abominations/Rammstein/mob crowd/skellies was around 5 minutes.
The first area does not count towards the 45 minutes, so my best advice here is to clear it as rapidly as possible, to help set a tempo for the timed section. The timer begins when you open the second gate and you must have the Baron dead inside the 45 minutes, not just reach him. DO NOT open the gate until everyone is buffed/healed/mana'd!
In the run to the Baroness - stay as close to the entry gate and the wall to the left of it as possible, send your pullers to get the mobs and stay in the tight corner to kill. This is important so that gargoyles don't range attack you, and so that if they do fear you are limited in directions you can go. Get your pullers to chain pull, so that when you have one mob or set of mobs nearly down another set is already incoming. Once you have cleared the spiders/banshees/gargoyles get your DPSer to pull the humanoids around the corner to the left, again back to the gate. When they are clear run directly at the group of ghouls on the opposite corner BY THE WAGON, leave the group of three to the right and do not pull them. Using the wagon as your base your pullers should then pull from around the corner any banshees/spiders/gargoyles remaining, and the pair of ghouls on the left corner facing the Baroness's pyramid. Once they are clear move to their position and pull the gargoyle patrol and the banshee and spider between you and the Baroness. Once done, send in your MT (warrior if you have one, pala or bearform druid if you don't) to run up the left side of the steps to the baroness, with the whole group following. All of the group must stay on the left and/or on the top step to avoid pulling any other mobs to the right that you haven't cleared. Because of this you will get silenced a lot, so make sure your DPSers have potions and bandages. Once she is dead let your healers regain mana while the rest of the group clear the pyramid.
Retrace your steps to the wagon and stay on the right side as you progress to the spider boss. Pull all pats as you move downhill - once across the street from the group to the left of the pyramid sap one/shackle one/run straight at them and clear where they stand. Pull the boss down the steps, staying on the left side of the pyramid at all times away from the big double group on the right. Once dead again let healers regen while the others clear the pyramid. Run back across the street and, staying right, enter the trap and clear it. If you have no AoE take Oil Of Immolation to do this.
Once through the trap use the wall on the left as your safe spot, as close to the gate as possible. Pull the casters on the right, the banshee ahead and any gargoyles within range (do not pull the ghouls on the left). When they are dead run to the casters' original position and clear the right side of the fountain (two spiders and two ghouls). Again do not pull the three ghouls on the other side, but pull all remaining pats to your position on the right of the fountain and kill them; also pull the two ghouls from around the corner to the right. Next you need to run towards the pyramid, stopping just after the right corner (and again do not pull the ghouls on the left) then head straight for the casters on the corner to the right of the pyramid. Kill them (you may also need to take out a banshee in the side street), then run down the right side of the pyramid taking the mobs on the steps with you. Once they are dead stay in this position and pull Maleki down to you. Repeat the same tactics as before to clear the pyramid, then retrace your steps to the fountain VERY CAREFULLY.
Clearing to the abominations' gate is easy, just pull the banshee and spider to your position behind the fountain, then run across to the right side into the group of three ghouls down the street (again, watch the three you left which will now be behind you - do not back into them!) Staying right, make your way through the pair of ghouls to the pair of ghouls by the gate (DO NOT PULL THE MAGISTRATE). get all your mana and health back then enter the gate to start on the abominations.
The abominations need to be cleared a different way than normal - take out a couple to the right of the exit (pull them, don't wait for them) then move into their area, running down and to the right of the pyramid. Fight them there, picking your pulls until you clear all the way to the other side of the pyramid. They will stil automatically run into the tunnel to find you, giving you more time to see them coming. Make sure that when you clear them you run back to the edge of the tunnel to mana up for Rammstein. For the mobs after him have some holy waters handy to clear them if you have no AoE (and don't rely on Consecration ffs).
You have to wait for the skellies to come out of the pyramid to attack, giving you a bit of breathing space and time for the priest to apply the shadow buff for the baron (and all others to rebuff). When you have cleared the skeletal guards if you have a few minutes left don't just rush the baron, run in and to the left as normal to prepare yourselves.
On the baron fight just go all out, remembering to equip your healers/casters and one DPSer with holy waters to clear the skellies that heal him, smack the twat until he drops and then talk to the NPC. Easy.
Finally, remember that a perfect run is near-impossible. There may be some deaths (though you cannot afford a wipe, so DI your priest if necessary!) and you may pull a couple of extra groups - but keep going. My first successful run saw six deaths, a DI and three more groups than we wanted.
