I *am* financially independent (more or less, as you know). But I still appreciate not having to worry about paying for a meal. The last two guys I've went on dates with both insisted on paying, and neither expected anything more than a hug at the end of the night. I'm not looking to make anyone broke -- it's just nice to be treated like I'm special every now and then.
Then again, it's probably just a cultural difference.
i like the dutch way of 'no mutual obligation'. the women i've dated have expected me to buy everything all the time. well not all the time, but usually. then again, i live in suburbia where many women drive SUVs (and not good at driving them while talking on the cell phone).

Yeah, I hate SUVs. They're so hard to see around in my little "compact" (normal-size in Europe) car, and they waste energy. Cell phones drive me nuts too. Ninety-five percent of the conversations had on cell phones could wait until the person is at their destination.

I once have had a french boyfriend at it was exactly the same. I insisted to splitt the bill, he thought I was weird and also did his friends. They couldn't understand that its normal here to splitt the bill especially when you're a couple or the boy is trying to make you his.

This is difficult.. I think most women in all countries are the usually the same. When I at home, and go out I end up seeing both sides.. From the really hot to not so hot. I like the women in Holland because they usaully like they way I speak And I think Dutch women look better. I dont know why?? Must be the water? I have a few friends who are Dutch and they are the most attractive girls in the group.
