Biografie
Jilles Kaptein a.k.a. Up Syndrome, is born and raised in Haarlem, NL.
His fascination for electronic music arose at a very young age. It all started in the late 90s when he borrowed a Thunderdome cd from a friend. The fast-paced and rough music grabbed his attention and he began to follow the hard-dance scene, immerging himself in it, keeping track of every new release, downloading every liveset of the internet. This way he also came in contact with other genres such as Trance, Hardhouse and Hardstyle.
At age 17 he attended his first hard-dance event: In Qontrol – Sound Expander. After seeing his dj heroes, and getting a taste of the great atmosphere that night, he knew for sure that this was where he belonged. And so he saved up al his money to buy his first dj-gear and started grinding to improve his skills. Starting off in Hardstyle, he quickly evolved from bedroom-dj to the actual stage. Performing on some very respectable events, being placed on line-ups in between some of the biggest names in the scene, and producing and co-hosting a radioshow for underground recordlabel Gearbox Digital, he did not have a lot to complain about. But after a year or two behind the decks he did not feel at home in the genre anymore and decided it was time for a change.
He made the switch to the genre that got him in to this music in the first place: Hardcore. Although this meant he had to take a step back from the stage to build up his "new" career, he was never more motivated.
He stepped up his producing game, got back on the grind and re-established himself as a true Hardcore artist. With events like Ground Zero, Mysteryland, Mindcontroller, Snowbass Festival, and many more to his name he made clear that he is a force to be reckoned with, and he doesn't show signs of stopping anytime soon...
