Biografie
Simple and direct in approach, Ben has a natural affinity with vintage hardware and dusty vinyl, which in turn shapes the sound he creates. MPC grooves and warm analogue synth work, melding influences from decades of soul, jazz-funk, electro and house; all with an eye on the dancefloor.
His latest release for Delusions of Grandeur, "Your Footprints" explores both ends of this approach; from the growling deepness of "Affirmation" to the sparkling Chicago-disco groove of the title track (featuring a wonky electro-pop remix from Tevo Howard).
Ben Sun started putting out records in 2010 on the Voyeurhythm imprint, a label he co-founded which is now on it's 12th release. As well as his records for VR, Delusions of Grandeur and Quintessentials, Ben has remixed Detroit house don Reggie Dokes for Royal Oak, NYC'Äôs Slow Hands (Wolf + Lamb), and Manchester'Äôs Deep Space Orchestra amongst others.
To put it in context, Sun's music is being played from Panorama Bar to D-Edge by people like Gerd Lanson, Midland, Larry Heard, Tim Sweeney, Recloose and Axel Boman. The lab continues to hum away and each release grows on the last.
