Biografie
Tom Smeyers started collecting records and playing gigs back in '98. Since then he developed a style embracing the broad spectrum of early 90's deep house and Detroit house/techno.
Tom is known for starting festivals or club nights playing melodic Detroit house and later on advancing into an eclectic mix of early 90's New York house, garage house, and Motor City techno sounds. On special occasions, he takes out his Italo crates for a set of space disco and prime-time Italo disco.
In other words, a common thread running through most of his mixes is heavily influenced by the sounds of artists such as Glenn Underground, Ron Trent, Chez Damier, Funk D' Void, Reese, Romanthony, Mike Huckaby, Larry Heard, Octave One, Paperclip People and Kerri Chandler.
Tom recently obtained a residency at La Cabane, a new club based in Brussels listing international house music and disco lineups. Besides clubs, he mixes a monthly Friday night show for We Bring You on Bruzz and every two months you can find him in the wooden cabin of Kiosk Radio Brussels for a live stream mix.
During the last 20 years, Tom performed guest sets at various clubs in Belgium and abroad such as Vooruit, Silo, Westerliefde, Café d'Anvers, Decandance, Vlla, De ClubUp, Vaag, Bar Helder, Klub Goud, Kelly Palmer, La Cabane, FortyFive ... Throughout the festival season, Tom can be seen mixing at festivals such as Pukkelpop, Voodoo Village, and Booty Rave.
Launching his vinyl-only label SneakerFreaks Music in 2015, Tom took credit for the first release on the label. His Back & Forth EP was played by Kerri Chandler, Tom Trago, Bicep, Soul Clap and reached a solid number two spot in the House Music Buzz Chart curated by Decks Records.
