Quince

It was during Queensday Quince first heard techno. And -believe it or not- it was on another Q-day celebration he made contact with his future record label. It certainly helped Quince to appreciate the national Dutch holiday. And it validates the joke to describe his fluid and melodic techno style as royal. Because royal it is.

Ever since his first EP No More Drama, Quince was a name to be reckoned with. DJ's as diverse as Rolando, Prins Thomas and Brendon Moeller digged his club friendly but sturdy techno monsters.

Quince makes the kind of records you still remember when a long and sweaty night comes to an end. Floormonsters like Sleepwalker (Music Man), Expanding/Contracting (Delsin) or the recent Noodles for Joris Voorns Green label all do the trick. Like colourful slides of Detroit, Berlin and Amsterdam are projected on the same wall simultaneously.

Since Quince picked up dj-ing three years ago ("something I should have done years before"), his productions have become even more club-friendly. "I now understand what people mean with Less is more." As a dj he likes to play versatile, long sets. "I like to mix impossible combinations, to make things clash. Often it creates a new energy."
