Biografie
The Dutchman was catapulted into stardom and Vandenberg even shared the bill with the biggest American rock stars such as KISS and Ozzy Osbourne. To top it all off, the guitar virtuoso was approached to join Whitesnake in 1987 when they were at the height of their fame. Adje would remain David Coverdale's right hand man for a full 13 years. After a side project with Manic Eden and a final tour with Whitesnake he stepped back in 1999 for personal reasons. Adrian needed some time to clear his head and wanted to spend more time with his daughter. He also made a name for himself as a painter. Musical performances were few and far between and for many years he was no longer a permanent member of any band. This changed in 2014 with the formation of Vandenberg's Moonkings. Despite several high-quality albums the popularity of the band waxed and waned. Perhaps that's why Ad decided to shelve the Moonkings and continue under the name that opens doors and ranks a fair bit higher in the pecking order. Even though the last album ('Alibi') dates back 35 years, the name Vandenberg still conjures up fond memories for traditional hard rock lovers worldwide. Incidentally, there's more good news for the fans because Vandenberg is putting out a new album this year and the affable Dutchman brought in some heavy hitters for the recording. There's Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake) on bass and Brian Tichy (Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner) mans the kit. Add in producer Bob Marlette (Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath) and it's clear absolutely nothing was left to chance. But there's more. Both in the studio and live Vandenberg can count on the vocal chops of Ronnie Romero, recruited for the 2016 Rainbow tour by Ritchie Blackmore himself. Koen Herfst and Randy van der Elsen are filling in for Sarzo and Tichy. Of the more than ninety bands on this year's bill this is definitely one of the acts we're looking forward to the most. 'Fasten your seatbelts, Vandenberg is here to stay.'
