Biografie
Created in 1996, Playin' 4 The City is a french House band performing live. Olivier Portal is at the heart of this project; being simultaneously producer, arranger, and well-established musician on stage and in his studio.
He set up the label Straight Up with his long time friend Betino in 1996, where most of Playin's productions are signed on. After a few collab's with Franck Roger (Sun Orchestra), Dj Deep (Funk Force Project), and multiple aliases, Olivier has defined a unique sounding House through his productions all over France, Europe, and US in the late 90's. This easy listening sound Portal creates will take you to another dimension, full of jazzy, groovy, and deep emotional vibes.
After many live performances at the well-known Rex Club, and all over Europe, Olivier has brought Playin' 4 The City to Chicago and held a 3 year monthly residency at Mad Bar. During a decade Olivier took a break with Playin' but finally came back on the scene late 2015. With Queen Marilyn on vocals, Loic Gayot on saxophone & flute, Olivier Bridot on trumpet, Slikk Tim on bass & key tar, and Olivier Portal on keyboard and Mpc, Playin' 4 The City is ready for a solid come-back with recently well acclaimed gigs at Djoon Club, New Morning Jazz Club, and Macki Music Festival.
