Dekmantel and Grolsch present the second installment in the Selectors documentary series, starring DJ extraordinaire Sassy J. The Bern-born selector stole the hearts of the Dekmantel-crew in the past couple of years with her inexhaustible love for music. In anticipation to Dekmantel Selectors the series follows Sassy J in her hometown, resulting in a personal story about her craft, colours, and her childhood.
In the last year Sassy J did a Dekmantel Podcast, played a Boiler Room x Dekmantel video, and of course starred at the Dekmantel Festival three weeks ago so it’s not a secret that the Dekmantel crew is fond of her. In the video, the Swiss DJ introduces her mother, close friends and her home, which is exactly how you imagined it would be. Colourful, filled with selfmade clothes (starring John Coltrane and Moodymann), and loads and loads of records. “It started all with being attracted to colours, patterns and fabrics. So through that, I actually started reading more about their cultures and philosophies. I find it so inspiring because a lot of art is timeless to me. And when we’re talking about the music, it triggers a ‘wow’-effect, a mind-blowing experience, and that’s what I look for in everything.” Sassy J will be present at the first ever edition of Dekmantel Selectors in Croatia, kicking of this week.
