I'm Dutch, but I deal with "international" people on a daily basis, so I thought...see if non-Dutch PF-ers experience the same as my colleagues

Just a few pointers to learn Dutch (assuming that you live in our "wonderful" country:
1. Ask everyone within your environment to speak Dutch to you, even if you don't speak Dutch to them. As some of you already said, Dutchies can speak English all too well, so...
2. Watch more TV than you are used to. The Dutch television is very international oriented, meaning we have a lot of english/american shows, including Dutch subtitles. In this way, you can relate your native language to the Dutch words (this was my way of learning English as well

3. When you want to speak yourself, start using English and Dutch mixed. Example: I want a ham & cheese sandwich --> I want a ham & cheese broodje. In this way, you will slowly get familiar with very specific Dutch words.
