DJ Infared
After running through 3 back gardens, tripping over a fat tomcat and losing my left eye I hunted down INFARED to discuss random shit. Oh yeah and all things hardcore!
Hello mate, how’s tricks?…Tricks are pretty good at the mo
Q1- If you had to make a choice between DJ’ing and producing which would you go for and why?
A1- made that choice in 2003. Sold my decks and dedicated all my time to production and playing live. Although I do the odd DJ set at home when I'm bored but using my comp. And it’s always better listening to your fav tracks in a mixed set, rather than on their own.
Q2- What’s your thoughts on the up and coming scene at the minute?
A2- over the past year it’s picked up a lot. And a lot more people are starting to go to the harder parties. Always seeing new faces mingled in with the usual crowd, which is great.
Q3- The majority of events seem to push hardcore-techno or gabber in to a back room, not like the old days where there would be a mash up of dj's all in the same room, Do you think some of the big events should bring some of the harder shit to the main room?
A3- Well. it would be pretty cool if they had more of the harder stuff in the main rooms of say HTID, Uproar etc. As more people would get to hear it, and that can’t be a bad thing. The only thing they put in the main rooms at the mo is the likes of Evil activities and Neophyte. So they only get to hear Mainstream Dutch hardcore. Would be good to see the likes of Producer, Death machine (and of course me

) etc in there.
Q4- If you had to describe the style you produce in 3 words how would it go?
A4- Break Driven Hardcore... (Or a quote from the Teknoist for my Bio that i quite liked... "Infared's music is grit and dirt personified, sorta like the person")
Q5- In my opinion the likes of Hellfish and Producer, etc have really set the mark in the hardcore-techno scene, Would you say the scenes picking up or going a bit stale?
A5- if it wasn’t for Producer i prolly wouldn’t be into the scene. Back in 94/95 i heard a Technodrome tape of him and it was like Hip hop (which i was bang into at the time) with big fuck off kicks over it. I was amazed. The scene is most definitely picking up
Q6- Are there any dj's or producers that you’ve looked up to in the past to steer you in the direction your in today?
A6- Producer, Hellfish, Bryan fury, Enticer, are the main 1s production wise.
Q7- Which celebrity would you most like to give a dry slap and why?
A7- hmm that’s a tuff 1. There’s a few that need a good slap. prolly Jessica simpson for been the dumbest idiot alive.
Q8- What bit of production kit could you not live without and why?
A8- my comp
Q9- Have you ever heard any rumors about yourself, if so what’s the maddest one?
A9- my mum thought id turned gay the other week, due to my sister blaggin her.
Q10- Two questions in one here, Whats your best and worst gig, spill the beans!
A10- Best gig has probably gotta be I hate trance Oct 06 in dordrecht Holland.. The room was immense and loud as fuck. Loved it and worst has to be Incision in Leeds. The room was just about as big as my bedroom
Q11- Are their any producers in particular you’d like to make a track with?
A11- Intergalaktic Purifier from Belgium. He’s wicked and has the same style as me. We’ve been meaning to get on a few tracks so keep you’re eyes open

his new label Dark icon records is in the process of being sorted out and me an him will be the main artists, so there’s another thing to keep you’re eyes peeled for.
Q12- Whats your thoughts as a producer on all these twats file sharing?
A12- I don’t agree with it if you’re doing it to play the tracks out on cd if they’re out on vinyl.
Q13- For anyone that wants to catch you playing anywhere what have you got lined up these next few months?
A13- march 9th 2 Pints of tekno & YBH (Burntwood) March 31st Full contact vs Deranged (Toronto Canada) April 21st Rigormortis 1st bday (Nottingham) May 10th The Nuthouse B2B Ely Muff
Q14- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A14- Dead hopefully
