So the story begins in Almere around 6 p.m. when I decide to go and pick up my friends and head to our 5th Q-base. After 2 hours of driving and a wrong detour we were @ the party site. parked the car . and went straight in since we were on the guest list
I managed to come in and listen to the last minutes to one of my favorite Hardstyle DJ`s. DJ Zany. Great beats as always and this guy always seems to have the best records in his bag at every party. So I thought to my self that this will be yet an other great Q-Base like I always knew it was. however. the night went differently then I thought
I was off to D-Block & E-Ste-Fan where a full hangar was jumping to the amazing beats in which they were playing very loud I must say. I could feel the bass through my whole body and the crowd seemed to be enjoying it as well. But I noticed something after a while which I didn`t like and well which I had also seen on Mysteyland. The hardstyle tracks have changed. There was bass and then it stopped and then there was melody which went down as well. MC talked a few lines. melody goes up and then the MC talks again and then 1 minute of bass and then. it was gone again
Now excuse me for being ignorant and arrogant which I am allowed to be since I was there since the first day that Hardstyle started back in 2001 (officially before I get quoted wrong in this site
This is not the music I fell in love with 7 years ago. Then it was continuous bass, continuous stampen , going crazy, singing along, and together with the DJ`s making it the music that it is today. One Music. One Family. I stood there the whole night from Area 1 to Area 2 to Area 3 to Area 4 and back to 3-2-1. and I heard everywhere the same. Whether the DJ was the Prophet or Frontliner it was the same to me. By the way Frontliner played some old tracks in which he does get credit but not enough to make up in what I was seeing or better yet hearing.
Now don`t get me wrong. I am a huge Q-Dance fan and I hold nothing against the organization since everything was arranged perfectly like always. Sounds, lasers, decoration, food, drinks, etc. Absolutely perfect
Unfortunately I didn`t have the chance to hear Alpha Twins & Deepack since the friends I was with were tired and well "sober" so I headed back to Holland not having the chance to draw my final conclusions about a party in which made me think differently about the music I love.
I have no idea if artists read this "verslag" and if they give a f**k if some Greek-American immigrant tells his opinion on how he thinks about the music they make and play. As a fan and as living though 7 years of party after party, I should have the right to criticize most of them ( Zany,Showtek, & A-Lusion are not included ). And I am sure there is more people who have been in the scence for years and see and hear what I see and must agree to this. I mean what happened to the "knallers-hits" like Shizzle my Dizzle, Porn, Cocaine MF, Disc Warrior, and Stampen in which left a era in the years which passed? Q-base 2006 was one big ass going crazy party ever. And now 2 years later it seemed like a lot had changed
Q-Dance did everything to make them big and bring them to the level in which they were today. They should respect that and give back to their fans like they use to do back in the days when it all started.
Anyway maybe I am just an old guy who cares too much about these things and says his opinion. Probably I will get criticized by all the young people in this site who recently started listening to hardstyle and tell me to stay home if I don`t like it
But maybe some people or DJ`s will read this and say I could be right.
Anyway. Q-Dance. thanks again
Hopefully Scantraxx will make everything okay again. See you all on the 4th of October.
Greetz,
Alexandros Starros
