▦ Paul Van Dyk – an introduction
Grammy nominated artist, globally acclaimed DJ and audio architect Paul van Dyk continues to dominate the electronic music charts and appears at the pinnacle of every Top DJ list around the globe. PvD, as his fans have nicknamed him, has been ranked the World´s No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine´s "Top 100 DJs poll" two times, something less than a handful of DJs have ever achieved.
PvD is credited as one of the hardest working artists in electronic music. With sold-out tours that cross each continent, headline spots at every major festival, and a hugely successful recording career, we can safely call him a "world trance star". With over 3 million albums sold worldwide, van Dyk travels around the world over 16 times each year to sold out performances internationally.
PvD received a Grammy nomination in 2005 for Best Dance/Electronic Album for his original album Reflections - this marked the first time NARAS recognized this category. His original productions from Reflections have been synced into major motion pictures such as Into the Blue, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, television´s Entertainment Tonight and MTV´s Cribs. PvD won four IDMAs in 2006: Best Global DJ, Best NuNRG/Euro Track, Best Producer and Best Mix Compilation for The Politics of Dancing 2.
▦ Album tour – Music Rescues Me
Music Rescues Me is the ninth studio album by Paul van Dyk.
The album features guest appearances from many artists, including Ronald van Gelderen, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Jordan Suckley, Pierre Pienaar, and Tristan D.
Not only does the album reflect his new world view following a near-fatal accident, but it also shows one of the many reasons why music is so powerful and why we might even listen to it in the first place. Music Rescues Me seems to have a straightforward meaning and message at first sight, but it actually goes way beyond that. To get a better sense of why this album is so powerful and emotional to both the trance legend himself and his listeners, van Dyk clarifies that the "me" is all of us and that "rescue" isn't quite "save," but more "liberate" or "free." He said, "My greatest aspiration for this release is that people, either now or in years to come listening to Music Rescues Me, will find that one of its tracks elevates, alleviates, opens them up, or takes them out of themselves."
▦ October 26, 2019 - what to expect?
What makes the album tour extra unique is that PVD has not performed in a Belgian club for more than 20 years. The last Belgian club night dates from December 4, 1998 in Fuse. Quincy Steveninck, founder of Radar Belgium, is enthusiastic: “We are proud that Van Dyk chose Radar to present his album. The rich electronic music history of the building is a perfect match with the music that the trance icon brings. I have listened to the album several times and it is amazes me every time. I can hardly wait until October 26 to finally see PVD at work in our new event hall."
Although the focus is on Van Dyk's new album release, let’s not forget the presence of another trance hero: M.I.K.E. / Push! He’s famous for his hit "Universal Nation", which has been number 1 in The Greatest Switch (StuBru) for three years in a row. We also know him from his tracks "The Legacy" and "Strange World". Mr Sam, the French techno / trance DJ, and Quincy, the man behind several famous retro parties such as Age Of Love, Cherry Moon, Ghosthouse and Teknoville, will also give the best of themselves on October 26.
