·Three days of total freedom with music, theatre, arts, sports and workshops. Mandala is more than a festival: it's an adventure and you can be part of it.
Marcel: "What have you got here, Julia?"
Julia: "A drawing, dad. Of a festival."
Marcel: "A festival? What kind of festival?"
Julia: "This is Mandala, a festival for you and me and all nice people."
Do you see the picture? Just a conversation between father Marcel Mingers – founder of Extrema – and his daughter Julia during a holiday in Spain. Even the parking lot and the campsite were drawn. Marcel proudly posts the drawing on Facebook. Not long after Vice and DJ Broadcast publish the story of Mandala… A new idea is born.
One year later Marcel gets invited to a new location. With some imagination Vakantiepark De Bergen looks just like Julia's drawing. After hearing the story from Marcel, the owners of De Bergen get infected by his enthusiasm. A friendship blossoms and Julia's festival becomes reality.
Imagine going on a short holiday in the middle of nowhere. You enter a park surrounded by a big forest. A park with a beach, a nature pool and a Temple Island only reachable by selfmade rafts. There's music on the beach and pop up parties in the forest. No massive stages, but a gathering in nature with seven different Tribes. Music, art, games, workshops, sport, wellness and loads of colorful entertainment. All created by artistic 'Creators', their friends and you: the crowd.
Everything feels a bit different. You expect a festival, but is it? Maybe it's something you cannot describe yet. An organism that grows on it's own. Be part of Mandala and be part of the adventure. Sleep, stand and stay wherever you like. Lay your head down on the warm beach, in the forest or even in a selfmade treehouse. Explore, socialize, party, learn and just have fun.
Mandala is for all the lovely and nice people on our planet. Just come over for a holiday. Add something from your heart, even if it's very small.
The first edition of Mandala will take place from 3 untill 6 June, 2016. And you can be part of it. Will we see you there?
