UK happy & freeform

Het is een freeform mix. Dat is een stijl in Engeland die behoorlijk stevig is. BPM gaan soms wel richting de 200.

Mix begint best wel trancy maar wordt later harder en harder. Veel early rave invloeden. De mix eindigt twee nummers die er een beetje buiten vallen, maar wel erg lekker zijn. Ik denk dat Freeform best wel succesvol in Nederland zou kunnen zijn.

In 1988 spraken radio-dj's in Nederland nog over 'de terreur van het niets', drie decennia later geniet Nederlandse dancemuziek wereldwijd aanzien. Om die ontwikkeling te vieren presenteert de VPRO in samenwerking met Mary Go Wild op drie zaterdagen in oktober de documentaireserie 30 jaar Dutch Dance.

In de serie komen kopstukken van de Nederlandse dance uitgebreid aan het woord. Deel 1 gaat op zoek naar het startpunt van de beweging, het moment waarop pioniers als Eddy de Clerq, Joost van Bellen en Paul Elstak loodsen en tunnels met partydrugs en de eerste grote dancehits omtoverden tot illegale raves.

Het tweede deel van de documentaire richt zich op de grote doorbraak van de Nederlandse dance en de periode waarin succesvolle ondermers als Duncan Stutterheim (ID&T) en Wouter Tavecchio (Q Dance) festivals Thunderdome, Sensation en Awakenings naar het grote (gabber)publiek brachten. In het derde en laatste deel zien we hoe die verzakelijking doorzet en dance aan de hand van wereldsterren als Armin van Buuren en Ferry Corsten tot ongekende hoogte gestegen is.

'Er zitten zo veel mooie verhalen en anekdotes in die dertigjarige geschiedenis: over kleine en grote feesten, over saamhorigheid, drugs en alle gekkigheid', zegt regisseur Sacha Vermeulen over de serie. 'Nederlanders zijn pioniers geweest indertijd en zijn dat nu eigenlijk nog steeds, met wereldwijd succes. Een waanzinnig mooi verhaal dat nu eindelijk eens in z'n geheel verteld gaat worden.'

30 jaar Dutch Dance gaat in première tijdens ADE. Op zaterdag 20 oktober, zaterdag 27 oktober en zaterdag 3 november worden de drie delen om 22.55 uur uitgezonden op NPO 3.
