What do foreigners think of patdown entry searches?

I didn't see any threads regarding this topic, so I decided to make one.

I am very curious about the way Americans, or other foreigners residing in countries where patting down is not a prevalent form of security search, feel on the topic of getting patted down to enter a club/party/etc? Do you find it invasive or useful? If you find it useful, what's stopping people from inserting objects into their body cavities, or undergarments? If you find it invasive, why?

I find it useful, but it doesn't stop people from inserting objects into their undergarments
