Nintendo of Japan has announced that it will launch a new successor to the DS called the 3DS (temp name for now). The main feature of the console is that it will allow for 3D support WITHOUT the need for special glasses. Likewise, the console will be fully backwards compatible with all previous DS and DSi software.

//UPDATE: Reports coming out of Japan seem to give some more technical details on the 3DS. Apparently it will feature '3D control sticks', the 3D technology is from SHARP and has been used in cell phones before, WiFi transfers will be supported as well as a vibration function!
